Web site changes and suggestions
Permalink

As you may have noticed, I've changed my Web site a bit the past month.

I changed the font, put up a new banner (took down those old, ugly ones) and put up some more Google ads.

I've been working on a new menu, which you may already have seen.

Hope these changes are for the better.

As I mentioned a couple of months ago, I'm going to sign up for V-Bulletin. I think it's better and it'll give me more freedom in terms of traffic control and ad placement.

Any other suggestions for this Web site in terms of design? I want to make it as professional-looking as possible. The old design was horrific, in my opinion. I was just lazy with it, concentrating more on the content.

this message board's layout is terrible. I hate it. I like the real ones, like the NFL team's Message Boards. Take some pointers from there.

I don't like it either; I mentioned that I was going to move to V-Bulletin soon.

I think you need to advertise this site more. There are only 53 registered users. That's nothing against you or this site, because I get on this site every time I get on the net. I think you should keep this site simple. It's easy to maneuver and it loads quickly onto my computer. Aside from that I can't really offer much help. Sorry.

You mean advertise the message board more? The regular site gets a good amount of traffic (25,000 page views per day in April when the draft is going on; 5,500 views per day now that it's the slowest month of the year).

However, I've always been puzzled as to why this message board hasn't been more popular. I think because it looks too unfamiliar to most people. V-Bulletin is easy to use; almost every message board on the internet uses it.

Thanks for visiting this site and message board though, I really appreciate it.

Looking good, but what happened to top stories you wrote, like the the Walter awards, or even the weekly stuff after the games?

Oh yeah, Activeboard sucks, you should go to vB or IPB if you have the money.

That'll be back for the regular season. I thought instead of writing weekly columns, I'd concentrate on more in-depth season previews, with a page dedicated to each team, and more updates to the mock draft and NFL player prospect lists.

But the top stories will be back in September.

I'm planning on moving to V-Bulletin by August. I'll keep you guys informed.

I was looking at the new layout in the predictions area..which looks really good by the way...but did you know that the right edge of your content is cut off?  Just a heads up.

LastLionsFan, where do you see the right side of the content being cut off? I went here: http://walterfootball.com/pred2007_01.php  and I didn't notice anything. Are there any other pages where the content is cut off?

Maybe like once you have the new board up and running set up a front page article advertising the forums or what?

Yeah, once the V-Bulletin board is up I'll be advertising the forum more. Good idea.
