Congrats Walt on a job well done. I basically agree with everything you had to say about the 49ers except for a couple of things I would just like to point out.
Pass rush- You mentioned how you don't have confidence in our dline, and I agree 100%. But the pass rush will not come from the dline in our 3-4 scheme. They are not going to be stat fillers, but merely do the little things that don't get noticed that will help the team. Our pass rush will come from Lawson who has a lot of promise, and Banta-Cain who is a career backup but we are expecting a lot out of him. Our dline will have good rotation to keep our players fresh throughout the whole game as well.
You're right that Lawson has a lot of promise, but he wasn't as productive as he should have been last year. The pass rush should be better in 2007, but it still is a little suspect right now
I do agree though Walt because without a pass rush it doesn't matter how good your secondary is, they will get picked apart. But Lawson was rarely used in blitzing last year, he was always asked to play in coverage.
