I hated Dan Henning, his play calling was just too boring. The pass plays he would call would be like a 3 step drop pass. I want to see us take shots downfield to Steve Smith.
And another question Walter, since the Panthers are over the cap, who do you see us cutting?
I think we should cut Mike Minter, Dan Morgan, Keary Colbert, and Mike Rucker.
Minter because os his age, Morgan because he is always injured (even though I think he's solid when he is healthy), Colbert because he's a bust, and Rucker because he hasn't done anything in the past two seasons.

I'd be scared to cut Foster and Lucas. I don't think Williams is ready to be the number 1 back. And Lucas was slowed down by injuries. When he was healthy the year before he had 7 picks.
If Quinn were to drop to the Panthers, we'd quickly find out what pull Weis had with Davidson and Davidson w/ Hurney/Fox. I'd be shocked if they didn't take him but it would likely throw their whole draft into disarray. The upcoming cap releases and FA period will influence the direction of the draft and I seriouly doubt they are spending much time on the senario of him dropping to 14. The recent bad mouthing of Quinn is probably attributable to the usual disimformation that teams throw out there to influence others and hide their own intentions.
Quinn wouldn't fall that far. That is the one absolute I can see. He is just too damn good. Im sure Buffalo would take him at #12 if he even went that far.
I'm not sure Buffalo would take him -- they like the way Losman progressed last year.
I agree with Katnip, that Carolina isn't really anticipating Quinn to fall that far. But if the Panthers do "start over" by cutting Kris Jenkins and Dan Morgan, taking Quinn would make sense.
Well, like I said, I wouldn't take it that far if I was the Panthers and cut one of the best DT's in the NFL in Kris Jenkins. The defense will need some leaders if we cut Morgan, Minter, Rucker, and let those bum LB's of our walk.
I would have no problem if Quinn was drafted by the Panthers. He is a big name, and that would attract more fans. Remember how you wrote that Delhomme needs a solid no.2 wideout, and we went out and get KeyShawn Johnson, and Delhomme ended up having his worst year as a starter. Granted, that it is not totally his fault, a lot rest on poor defensive play, but he has to acceapt some of the blame, especially that game with the Eagles! If Delhomme continues to struggle next year, I'd be very happy and anxious to throw Brady Quinn in there. And, who else do we have behind Delhomme, Chris Weinke? Give me a break! Plus Quinn has been working very hard. He is even doing eye workouts for the small muscles behind his eye so we can see the field better! He is working hard to be drafted high.

I would agree that if Quinn got by Miami at 9 that there would be a good chance to fall all the way to 14. There would be a chance that someone like Jacksonville at 17 or KC at 23 could trade up(as Denver did last year) , but teams hate to give up high picks (Jville a 3rd and KC a 2nd to get to 13,assuming the Rams would want to trade down).
If the Panthers really wanted him they would likely have to go up to Houston at 8 and this would cost an extra 3rd and 4th round pick, unless they could work a deal where they exchanged Foster for Davis. This would give them their RB as well as another starter at 14. Of course these trades are always "pie in the sky" deals that are rarely if ever made.
Well Walter, I guess we were both wrong about Rucker and Morgan. They both agree to reconstruct there contracts, and will remain with the team, they also reconstructed Jake Delhommes contract. And they released WR Karl Hankton.
I still think they go after a middle linebacker and a defensive end relatively early in the draft; both guys could be gone next year. My new mock draft reflects that.
