New Divisional Analysis
Permalink

In the NFC East it will be a shootout between Philadelphia and Dallas. I have changed and now favor Philly to win with a 13-3 record. Dallas is second at 12-4, Redskins finish 9-7, while Giants finish 8-8.

Minnesota was picked to be third in my season previews. Now First. Minnesota finishes 11-5. Detroit follows right behind at 9-7, Green Bay is 8-8, while Chicago is 6-10.

Carolina and Atlanta appear to be in a dead heat. At the moment I figure Atlanta wins it at 12-4, Carolina at 11-5, New Orleans at 7-9, Tampa at 5-11.

Seattle is not only going to win their division, but finish 6-0 in intra-division games. Seattle runs away with it at 13-3, while  St. Louis beats out Arizona for second, St. Louis at 6-10, Arizona also at 6-10, while San Francisco is the worst team in football at 1-15.

Pats and Jets games will be very enjoyable this year as the Pats win though by alot in one game (at New England) and in overtime in the other, Pats take the crown again at 14-2. The Jets will follow at 11-5 while Buffalo is 5-11, and Miami is 3-13.

Baltimore will again win this weak, weak division at 10-6, Cincinnati at 6-10, Cleveland at 6-10, Pittsburgh at 5-11.

The Colts are hot and will go on to be 13-3 and take the South, Jacksonville continues to win and are 11-5, while Houston is 7-9 and in third, Tennessee hurts without McNair and finishes at 6-10.

The Kansas City Chiefs were not just pre-season favorites to win the AFC West, but to run away with it. Now in all likelyhood they will start out 0-7 and almost no shot at the playoffs. So, my new pick to win the Division.......... the Oakland Raiders. I say the Chiefs finish 6-10, the Broncos finish 8-8, and the Raiders finish 10-6, while San Diego is last at 5-11.

Playoffs

Byes: Philadelphia , New England, Seattle, Indianapolis

Wildcard weekend

Dallas (12-4) at Minnesota (11-5): We saw this in Week One, only now Darren Woodson is in the lineup, and Vinny Testaverde has his gameface on. Cowboys win 38-34.

Carolina (11-5) at Atlanta (12-4): We will see this next week, and Carolina's defense will not keep up woth Vick. Falcons knock out the Defending NFC East champs 27-16.

Jacksonville (11-5) at Baltimore (10-6): Baltimore is proud to be here, and will again have a first round exit. Jacksonville 16, Baltimore 13

NY Jets (11-5) at Oakland (10-6): The Raiders take a big step, but they cant expect to beat these Jets. NY Jets 35, Oakland 13

Divisional Playoffs

Dallas (13-4) at Philadelphia (13-3): Again Dallas will be prepared for the Eagles this time after Bill Parcells preparing them in overtime, Dallas advances. Dallas 23, Philadelphia 20 (OT)

Atlanta (13-4) at Seattle (13-3): Noone even Michael Vick can go into Seattle's house and beat the Seahawks. Noone. Seahawks 34, Atlanta 17

Jacksonville (12-5) at Indianapolis (13-3): Indy is on a long winning streak and Jacksonville isnt going to end it. Colts win 45-24

NY Jets (12-5) at New England (14-2): This aint gonna be close, Jets need another year. Pats run away with it 32-6.

Conference Championships

Dallas (14-4) at Seattle (14-3): The Seahawks get their prayer answered. The road to the Superbowl goes through Seattle, Vinny finishes his final season in the same game he finished his greatest season, the Conference Championship. Seahawks win 33-24.

Indianapolis (14-3) at New England (15-2): Peyton Manning finally expells Bill Belichick and Tom Brady from his head. In Double Overtime after a Patriots comeback. Colts pull it out 31-28 (2OT)

Super Bowl XXXIX

Seattle (15-3) v.s Indianapolis (15-3): This will go down as the highest scoring Superbowl in History and rightly so. A great shootout between the two of the great Offenses in the NFL. Colts win 44-38.

I still don't think there's any way that the Colts go to the Super Bowl because their defense stinks... and there is no way that they score 45 on Jacksonville. I don't even think they can score 25. Their past 4 meetings:

9/2002: Colts 28, Jags 25

12/2002: Colts 20, Jags 13

9/2003: Colts 23, Jags 13

11/2003: Jags 28, Colts 23

Jacksonville has always played Indy close and have kept the clamps on Peyton Manning. I think the Jaguars beat Indy this weekend.

Indy wins because the Jags Defense is a good rush defense. Im not sure about their pass defense. Colts win this weekend 21-13.

24-17. But the most important thing is Jacksonville's locker room was upbeat after the loss. They believe that they can beat Indy and I agree. I think the next time they play the Colts, the Jaguars will win.

Just because you believe you can do something doesnt mean it will happen. Last year the Cowboys believed they could go into Philly and win. We played em even in the first half but then they got momentum and won. I say Indy is last year's Philly and Jacksonville is last year's Dallas in this situation.

But I do believe Jacksonville will beat Indy the next time they play them. A missed field goal and two failed 4th & 1 conversions decided that game. Except for two drives, the Jaguars had Manning bottled up. I think they will make adjustments and beat the Colts in Indianapolis.

One 4th and 1 miss could be a mishap but two and you have to say Indy won fair and square. If you talk like that then Philadelphia "didnt really" win in Carolina last year. Bacause Kasay missed 2 or 3 Field Goals that would have won Carolina the game. Tony Dungy is a better coach than Jack Del Rio, if one team will make better adjustments it will be the Colts.

When the Eagles beat the Panthers last year, I thought they got away with murder. Kasay missed 3 FGs and an extra point, which equates to 10 points. Philly won by nine.

And it showed in the playoffs. Carolina was the better team, and they won.
