Since i have not seen it up on your site , in case you didn't (has been hard to find information on it), Paul Oliver, Georgia's shut-down corner has been declared academically ineligable for the 2008.
Oliver has since petitioned the NFL for entry into the 2007 Supplementary Draft.
With that said, i can guarentee someone takes a shot at him at some point but where do you think he will be taken in the supplement?
I would love to see Detroit grab him in the second or third, but i could see New England dumping one of their 1st's on him.
Since the Asante Samuels situation seems to be going a route similar to Dieon Branch's, they could dump their own first rounder (high, possibly #32) on Oliver and then dealing the rights to Samuels to someone else for a first round selection.
They would effectively be replacinfg a unhappy corner with another highly talented Corner and still enter the 2008 Draft with 2 first round picks.
Anyways what are your thoughts, i know teams dont like to give up first and second rounders in the supplementary draft, but i dont see why N.E. would not do this.
P.S. Your Mock : Detroit wont be taking a DT in round 1 of 2008 unless they deal Shaun Rogers or Cory Redding. They have a great trio to rotate their with Redding and Rogers the starters and Shaun Cody (who i think would be a legit starter on some teams) giving them their breathers.
I agree with you completely. It would be a fantastic move. In fact, if some team's DBs were completely decimated before the season started, I'd package Asante with Gay and Wilson in return for a first next year, second the year after and a second the year after that. A deal like that would lessen the pain (in terms of spreading out draft picks) on the team getting Samuel, et al., we wouldn't have to deal with contract negotiations since next year they're all free agents and we wouldn't get anything for them. Plus, I think starting off the season with Hobbs on one side, Harrison and Meriweather at Safeties, and take your pick from rookies Oliver, Mike Richardson, veteran Chad Scott and if push came to shove, we could try Meriweather at corner and put Willie Andrews next to Harrison. We have improved the team in every aspect except DB and I think by the end of the year they could be more than good enough to win us a Super Bowl.
Some team is going to spend a 3rd rounder on this guy. I think he would be best fit though in a Cover 2 scheme.
My predicition is the Detroit Lions. They traded away Dre' Bly and they need to restock at CB.

The Chargers spent a 4th rounder on him. I think it was definitely worth the pick!
And the Ravens gave up a 5th rounder for Jared Gaither. Another player that was well worth the pick!

On the surface it seems like great value, but I am sure if most NFL teams thought they made some steals then they would have taken those players with their pick in the 4th round!
Again, there is some info that the NFL teams have on these guys that we do not.
