Will he succeed here in Dallas? I think so. I dont remember who said this, but I thought it was very wise at the time, someone on ESPN said "You come to the bat differently when you have two strikes against you." I agree. I think Owens is a Cowboy for life and I think he goes into the hall as a Cowboy.
For the first time in his career, Terrell Owens will be playing for a Hall of Fame coach. And also for the first time since Steve Young, Owens will be catching passes who won't take any of Owens' complaining. Drew Bledsoe isn't as talented as Donovan McNabb at this point of his career, but he will confront TO, which is something McNabb didn't do.
The key to Dallas' offense, as well as Terrell Owens' stability, is the offensive line. If Bledsoe has time to throw, Owens will not have any problems. Given that the Cowboys made improvements on the front, I don't think that's going to happen.
I just read his book a couple days ago and I believe him. The pieces to the puzzle from his story seem to fit together if you add the info in that book to the info that we already know. I could see McNabb doing what he did and then going to the media to save him again by breaking the silence to Michael Smith first before TO could tell his side. Had McNabb not talked to Smith before the season started, then it would have been harder for me to believe TO so really McNabb hurt himself by doing so. Honestly, I think that TO's book had nothing but the truth in it and I am confident now that he will succeed here in Dallas and that he will retire as a Cowboy and go into the Hall of Fame as a Cowboy.
On a side note, does anybody know what team Reggie White went into the hall with? Was it the Eagles or Packers?
I think that Parcells has reacted to Terrell Owens missing all of this time the same way he reacts to every other player who misses alot of time with an injury. Remember when he called Terry Glenn "she" because of all the time he was sitting out with an injury? That's what he usually does when a player is injured to hurry them back but he knows that he can't do that with TO 1. because the media will blow it out of proportion and cause a big problem and 2. because TO is kind of sensitive about some things. So instead he just acts really suttle but kind of angry at the same time. These tactics are perfect for the situation and its just one of the reasons why Parcells is a great coach, he knows how to coach a bunch of different personalities.
You would think that White would go in as a Packer since that was where he had his best years and since that was where he won the Super Bowl, but with the Eagles being in the Hall of Fame game and all makes me think that he went in as an Eagle.
I completely agree that the media is blowing this thing out of proportion. If this were any old wide receiver, no one would pay attention to this.
I just wish Owens would just listen to Parcells and play in the preseason. You would think that he would have learned from his experience with the Eagles.
I actually took your advice, as well as the stat I found (Bill Parcells (DAL) is 0-3 in Preseason Week 1 w/Cowboys) and made a small wager on the Seahawks -3.
I'm really sorry, guys. Next time I'll just shut up and let you go with your gut.
I think the Cowboys have their future at quarterback. I don't want to jump the gun just yet but if he plays like that in the remaining 3 preseason games then Tony Romo deserves to get consideration for starting against Jacksonville in Week 1.
Don't worry about it, Seattle probably should have won. Your input is valued, if you disagree with one of the teams we pick, just say so.
Tony Romo looked pretty good. I don't think he should supplant Drew Bledsoe yet, but if Bledsoe struggles, Bill Parcells won't be hesitant to yank him.
I agree that Parcells wouldn't hesitate to yank him. Parcells has not liked what he has seen in Drew Henson ever since we got him and that would explain why Parcells refused to start Henson over Vinny in 2004. However, from the sounds of it, it would appear that Parcells does think that Romo is the quarterback of the future. In that case, Bledsoe better watch his back because Parcells wont hesitate to put Romo in the game anymore.
