FOX's scoreboard
Permalink

I saw the Colts-Rams game, and I noticed fox had a new look. If you look at the extra points section in the preseason week 1 notes, you see something about fox.

I'm just as confused as walter. I had no trouble reading the scores and numbers on the top of the screen, but I can't tell what quarter it is when i see the scoreboard on the top.

I was sitting pretty far away from the TV, so maybe that's why I couldn't see the scores.

What was with those mouse-click noises throughout the whole telecast? I didn't mind it at first, but it eventually started getting on my nerves. Imagine four months of this.

Not to mention a WC game, 2 divisional playoff games, and the NFC championship

The mouse-click noises were still annoying, but I thought FOX's graphics were better during the Giants-Chiefs game. But maybe it was because I was watching the game on HD on a much larger TV...

I agree that FOX's new scoreboard is terrible. I liked it when they had the bigger scoreboard at the top of the screen with the team logos rather than abbreviations. I wish they would go back to that.

I acutally completely agree with that. For some reason, the logos looked better than the city abbreviations.

Its draws more attention that just abbreviations like DAL, BAL, CIN, TEN etc. I dont know why FOX changed their scoreboard.

Because the other one is old.

Sometimes older is better. In this case, FOX's scoreboard just keeps getting worse.

So is their pregame show. I loved their pregame show the last several years with JB, Bradshaw, Howie Long, and Jimmy but I think that it is kind of a stretch to have Joe Buck host the show AND be the lead announcer for the week.

That is pretty ridiculous.

I used to like FOX's pregame show before 2000. I don't know what happened, but I started hating it. I now watch ESPN NFL Countdown every week.

Bradshaw is really ignorant and he contributes hardly anything to the show but he's kind of just like the court jester. He's a clown but I think that is what FOX hired him for. JB was a very good host, only Chris Berman is a better sports pregame host in my oppinion. Howie Long and Jimmy are both very intelligent about the game and both of them are funny so I watch FOX mainly to hear them. Frank Calindo is HILARIOUS. Have you ever seen his skit? Almost all of them leave you rolling on the floor. Jillian Barberie is ugly and contributes nothing to the show. They should either hire a weather girl that is actually nice to look at or they should scrap her segment to make more time for Howie and Jimmy's analysis.

By the way, why did CBS hire JB to host their show? What happened to Greg Gumbel, or even Jim Nantz?

Chris Berman's the best. Do you watch NFL Primetime? It's a shame it got moved to Monday night, but I'm still going to watch it every week.

I'm not a big fan of Frank Calindo. Granted, I haven't seen a lot of his stuff, but from the little I've watched, I wasn't impressed. Jimmy Kimmel was obviously a lot better.

I guess CBS didn't like Greg Gumbel; he was a little bland. Jim Nantz was a great host, but he's much more valuable to them as a play-by-play announcer.

I watch NFL primetime and alot more stuff of Boomer's stuff. I love his nicknames and the little things he does like "WHOOP!" or "He    could        go     all      the      way !!!!!!!!!!" I always watch the first hour of NFL Countdown too but I turn to Fox at 11.

Frank Caliendo is hilarious, his Madden impersonation is flawless. Although I think Kimmel is pretty good too, I think Caliendo is better.

I agree that Gumbel was kind of bland but I think that Nantz is kind of bland too. By the way, what is your oppinion on Bryant Gumbel's comments? I dont think it is very smart to say that kind of stuff about the people who recently gave you a job.

I agree with you about the Bryant Gumbel comments. Not smart at all.

Greg Gumbel is now with the NFL Network.

Yeah, I love all of the Berman-isms. Everything about NFL Primetime is great; I hope they extend it to 90 minutes.
