Tech's Basketball schedule was recently announced and I wanted to know how you guys see them doing. I'll go through it game by game.
v.s. Sam Houston State: W 1-0
Easy game. We should win by 40-50 points.
Guardians Classic, Rounds 1 & 2: W 2-0 W 3-0
It hasn't even been announced who our opponents in the Classic will be but usually they'll give the major conference teams easy first and second round opponents. On to KC we go.
North Dakota State: W 4-0
Another terrible team that we should be able to destroy. Has Mike Leach been teaching Bobby Knight how to schedule?
Guardians Classic Finals: W 5-0 L 5-1
If we play Duke in the semis then we will lose but I think we play Marquette in that round and I think we could win that game. If we play Duke in the finals we will lose however.
@ UTEP: L 5-2
We'd probably be down after losing in the Guardians Classic and it seems that Bobby Knight doesn't care much about non-conference games judging from his years with the Red Raiders so I put this one as a loss.
@ TCU: W 6-2
TCU is pathetic at basketball, we will crush them.
Stanford: W 7-2
I guess if we were to play Stanford in the guardians classic too then that means that we're playing them twice this season. We'll have a better team than them this year and we'll beat them.
@ Louisiana Tech: W 8-2
We inexplicably lost to LT last year, we won't let that happen again this year.
Centenary: W 9-2
Another laugh-in game.
@ Arkansas: W 10-2
The Razorbacks are an NCAA tournament quality team, so I would usually say that we would lose to them, but Bobby Knight has a chance to tie Dean Smith for all-time career victories in the history of College Basketball in this game and Tech will win one for him.
Bucknell: W 11-2
Now Bobby passes Dean Smith as the Red Raiders beat a very worthy Bucknell squad.
UNLV: W 12-2
Tech is on a roll now and UNLV would be no challenge for them.
New Mexico: W 13-2
The Lobos haven't been quite so good since Danny Granger left. We'll beat them easily.
Oklahoma: W 14-2 (1-0)
The Sooners are going to take a major step backwards this year without Kelvin Sampson.
@ Kansas State: W 15-2 (2-0)
I think that Bob Huggins will have the Wildcats in the NCAA Tournament this year but he'll struggle early on. Red Raiders win.
@ Baylor: W 16-2 (3-0)
Another inexplicable loss last year that we will get revenge for this year.
Kansas: L 16-3 (3-1)
This should be an entertaining game. Maybe not quite as entertaining as the KU-Tech game from 2 years ago but still exciting. I think the Jayhawks' talent will upend us.
Texas A&M: W 17-3 (4-1)
We have revenge on our minds after being swept by the Aggies last year. Texas A&M is probably the better team but it will probably be a home and home series.
@ Missouri: W 18-3 (5-1)
Tech owns Mizzou. We've beaten the Tigers three straight times with the closest game being by 11 points.
Texas: L 18-4 (5-2)
We always seem to struggle against Texas and, same thing as the KU game, they are more talented than we are. Again, it should be close though.
@ Oklahoma: L 18-5 (5-3)
Im not picking OU to make the tournament this year but they'll probably beat us once.
Nebraska: W 19-5 (6-3)
Even last year when we were terrible and the Huskers were better we still managed to beat them.
@ Oklahoma State: L 19-6 (6-4)
The Cowboys are going to be a tournament team again this year after that hot streak to end last year.
@ Texas A&M: L 19-7 (6-5)
This game would be a blowout. We've got a good team this year, but A&M's better and they a great homecourt advantage.
Colorado: W 20-7 (7-5)
We finally earn our 20th victory after 4 losses in our last five games.
@ Texas: L 20-8 (7-6)
Another blowout. The Longhorns sweep us again.
Oklahoma State: W 21-8 (8-6)
This OK state team is good but noway they beat us at the United Spirit Arena.
Baylor: W 22-8 (9-6)
Baylor is a joke.
@ Iowa State: W 23-8 (10-6)
I was surprised how bad ISU was last year. I thought they were a tournament team. We should blow them out in this game.
Well, 23-8 overall and 10-6 in the Big 12 sounds pretty good to me. It should be enough for a bye in the Big 12 Tournament and a 5 or 6 seed in the Big Dance.
Out of the road conference victories that I have us claiming I think the K-State game is about the only one that we could possibly lose, but I dont think that the Wildcats would have bought in completely to Bob Huggins by then.
Guardian's Classic Bracket was announced recently and we'll likely be playing Gardner Webb and Akron in the first two rounds and then Marquette and Duke in the Finals. I stand by my prediction that we'll make it to the Finals. The Marquette game will be tough though.
