ALCS: Detroit v.s. Oakland

I was really surprised by Oakland dominating Minnesota in the first round. I thought the Twins would win for sure. Anyway, they fall to earth here. The Tigers are just the better team. 4-1 Tigers.

NLCS: New York v.s. St. Louis

How bad is the NL that the Cardinals are in the Championship Series? St. Louis is a joke and New York will have no problems with them. 4-0 Mets.

WS: Detroit v.s. New York

This should be the closest World Series we've had in a long time. Detroit has been good but I think this is the Mets year. New York wins in 6. 4-2 Mets.

I don't think the Mets have the pitching to win. St. Louis or Detroit will beat them.

The Cards won't beat the Mets. They're in a tailspin. If anyone's beating them, it'll be Detroit.

A tailspin? They just took 3 of 4 from the Padres. Tailspin no more.

The Padres aren't that good, they're just one of 3 mediocre teams that made the playoffs in the NL. I think the Dodgers are better and the Mets dominated them.

Yeah, but the fact that the Cardinals won 3 of 4 means that they're not in a tailspin anymore. It doesn't matter whom you beat, just as long as you win. Don't write off the Cardinals just yet.

I guess you're right that they're not in a true "tailspin" but you have to agree that they're kind of backing into the NLCS. I mean, they nearly gave the division title away at the end had not the Astros choked and then they beat a team that they should have beat in the first round of the playoffs. I think they'll be kind of like Boston College was in the NCAA Tournament a couple years ago. Just because they beat Penn didn't mean that they weren't in a tailspin anymore because they lost to Wisconsin-Milwaukee the next game.

You could be right. They couldn't score any runs tonight, but that was against Glavine. It'll be interesting to see what they do against the lesser Mets pitchers. Remember, St. Louis still has at least 3 games of Chris Carpenter or Jeff Suppan. Everyone knew Jeff Weaver was losing tonight.

I still can't believe the Astros choked. I thought they were going to overtake St. Louis.

Revenge situation for the Braves. The Astros had eliminated them the previous two seasons from the playoffs and they had a shot to turn the tables this year.

Cardinals take a 2-1 lead under Carpenter and Suppan. Tough break for the pitcher-less Mets, who have to face each guy again.

The series is a long ways from over but so far you were right on the money on the Cardinals. Good call.

Thanks.

I think the Mets take a 3-2 lead with Glavine, but the Cardinals will tie it up with Carpenter in Game 6. It'll come down to Suppan in Game 7.

I agree with your predictions on Games 5 and 6 and then I think the Mets outslug the Cardinals (like they did yesterday) in Game 7 to win the series.

I could see that happening. The Cards will have the pitching edge, but not by much.

The Mets couldn't even win with Glavine last night. Maybe Albert Pujols was right on what he said after Game 1. I still wouldn't doubt the Mets winning both games in the Big Apple though.

I don't know, Chris Carpenter and Jeff Suppan are pretty tough. I think the Cards will take it.

I just can't see it. The Cards have been so mediocre this year. I really don't see it happening but right now it looks like it will.

Game 7 tonight! I can't believe Chris Carpenter lost... but I'm still going with the Cards. I trust Jeff Suppan a lot more than Oliver Perez.

I like the Mets. The Cards don't look like a World Series team.

Close game. If it went 10 innings, the Mets might have won.

I like the Tigers in the World Series. They have the edge in the starting rotation and bullpen.

4-0 Tigers. The Cards are like the '04 Eagles. They're the product of winning a weak league.

I think the Tigers lost Game 1 because they were rusty. I took the Cardinals on the site. I'm not sure who will win Game 2 yet, I'll post my pick Sunday afternoon.

Detroit wins the next four. Im still not a believer in St. Louis yet. If they win Game 2 however, they have to be the favorite to win the series.

I think Chris Carpenter will win his game. Detroit in 6 or 7. I'll continue to take it game by game on the site.

I'll stick with Detroit in 5.

What do you think now? The Tigers should be able to win Game 4 tonight. I'll have my pick up as always.

Detroit in 6 or 7. The Cardinals have a lot more fight than I thought they had but when I look at them I dont see a world champion.

I like the Tigers the next two nights, St. Louis in Game 6 and the Tigers in Game 7.

I'm taking the Cardinals over Tigers in Game 4. I have more faith in Jeff Suppan than Jeremy Bonderman.

Nice call, I cant believe it. If the Cards win tonight then they take the whole thing. I think they lose tonight and win Game 6 in Detroit.

I thought the Tigers would at least take the series back to Detroit. I can't believe Jeff Weaver pitched so well. He was so dreadful with the Angels. How did he turn it around in a span of a few months?
