Well we just took a huge loss with Norv Turner leaving for SD. He is supposedly this great offensive coordinator, but only had our offense at #26, only had one offense in the top 10. I didn't think he would improve us that much, but the main reason I wanted to keep him was because he is one of the best at developing QBs. Alex Smith was the most improved player, and credits it to Turner. Now that he is gone I'm scared he will go back to his old ways. You think Smith and the 49ers will take huge hit now?

I can't blame Norv for leaving, he is getting one of the best teams. But he will run them into the ground, just like he did with all his other teams.

Yeah, I really don't understand the hire. The Chargers fired Schottenheimer because he couldn't win in the playoffs. Yet, Norv only coached in two himself. Ridiculous.

I was actually at another forum and people were discussing this topic, and a lot of them were actually happy about the hire! Whats to be happy about? He is 24 games under .500. Did you read what Jerry Rice said about Norv, great OC, but as a HC, he has no control over the team, no dicipline, no leadership, and he doesn't give good speeches and keep hype up his players. In my mind, thats what you want to do. You want to get these Chargers hyped up to play. With all the talent that they have on this roster, they have no excuse to underachieve like they've been. You blamed Marty, but then you bring in a coach, who I don't even know how he keeps getting lucky and landing these HCing jobs, to take you to the next level? Makes no sense.

Now, I believe I know why they hired Norv. Doesn't Norv run the same offense that the Chargers run? I think that Norv fits the system, but lets see how Norv does this time. This time he doesn't have to build a team, he's coaching the superbowl favorite next time, I hope he blows it, and I hope A.J. gets fired, or loses a lot of his power.

And what about Ron Rivera becoming a LB coach. There are teams out there that need a good DC like Rivera, how about the Cardinals, or the Rams, or the Lions. I think Lovie will regret letting Rivera go.

Yeah Turner ran the same offense with SD as he did in 2001. I just think that AJ Smith is really running the team, and gets a soft spoken guy like Norv to just be there basically.

I completely agree with you.  I believe A.J. Smith is running the team and has all the power.  And that the only reason he hired Norv, 1) because they run the same offense and 2) he may not ask for much power, even though Norv asked for full control when he talked with the Cowboys.  I don't like A.J. Smith, sure he's made some good additions, but I think he has himself in best interest, not the Charger team.
