First off let me remind you that trent Green before last season had passed for over 4,000 yards three consecutive years second to only peyton manning with a passer rating of over 90%. Comes into the 06' season with a new head coach and a offensive gameplan that takes the ball out of one of the most accurate passers in the league's hands except on known passing downs which is always a big help. The man gets pummelled on a questionable hit in week one of the regular season sending him to the hospital for a few days. Takes full and complete recovery time to ensure he can compete an unselfish act in my estimation. The game before Trent Comes back Huard loss horribly in miami going three and out on the teams first five possions. So the KC starter for the past six years gets handed back the car keys and climbs back into the driver seat....your dam right and after 8 weeks with no game speed experience beats Oakland and denver. The following week he goes 24/32 for 297yrds and 4TDs in a crushing Overtime lost to Cleveland inwhich the D-fense just faltered and some backup QB C. Frye took a magic pill and ran 15yards for a first down to seal it. His next four games three of which are on the road against the leagues premier defenses Baltimore , Sandiego, and the jaguars down the stretch are you kidding me with injuries and rotations ever present on the offensive line......brady and peyton would be lucky to get out of there alive. This is where he did accumulate some interceptions if not find himself on his back one of the 24 times he was sacked in those seven games he played. However he did go 2 out of 4 beating Oakland once again and defeating the Jags to instill the squad with playoff hopes. The colts playoff game hmmm.... what a game huh no first downs until sometime in the third quarter it was definetly easy to see they were out matched and out classed from a team standpoint thats what can happen when a #1 seed plays the last wildcard. It was apparent that the colts D-line was stopping larry for little to no gain forcing trent to throw on known downs with freeney breathing down your neck,.....i thought for sure he was gonna end up in the hospital again getting sacked 5 times. Im sorry but huard would have done no better when u cant block and run the ball it equals game over. Your telling me you'd go back to a QB with no playoff experience over probowler trent green the man would have won a super bowl in St. Louis had he not blown his knee out and made way for kurt warner who used to throw canned vegetables in a grocery store before he had a high powered offense handed to him .....funny ironically his career ended due to continuously going back into games after suffering concussions....the likes of which trent green sustained and by the way never asked for .......whata yah say lighten up a bit boys?
First came the suggestion by Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor that Green might be scrambled eggs, a reference to last seasons severe concussion. That speculation seemed far-fetched. Green had eight weeks to recover and returned to make eight straight starts, including the playoff game, without any problems taking a hit.
But, you forget, Trent Green does not win in the playoffs. He is too old to lead a team now, he only has 1 or 2 more years left in the tank, if he is lucky. The trade is just pointless, the Dolphins need to be thinking about the future, not the present. Don't be the Boston Celtics of the NFL.
