In regard to your 2007 Tampa Bay season preview: the Bucs are moving Buenning to Center. Sears will most likely start at Left Guard. The line should look like this:
Petitgout   Sears   Buenning   Joseph   Trueblood

On defense, Carter will be moved to Under Tackle from Defenseive End. Sims was brought over as a project and to give Hovan a breather on occasion.

I'm glad that you appreciate what the Bucs have done this offseason and you understand that they went 4-12 in large part to Gradkowski starting. I agree with the 9-7 estimate for this upcoming season.

And in regard to your mock draft: I think the Bucs would be better served with Ellis in the first and Booty in the second. Then the best speed receiver left in the third. Possibly Bryant from Purdue. He may also help with getting our first Kick Return for a TD. But the draft you have now is one of the best Bucs' drafts I've seen so far. You address all needs with starter-caliber players.

I just figured I'd give you my 2 cents.

I disagree with the Bucs drafting a QB next season (on Day One). I think Gradkowski has potential. The reason the Bucs had a were bad last season was 1) lack of a running game, 2) bad stopping the run, 3) lack of a pass rush, and 4) a brutal schedule.

Garcia still has 2 years left in him, and we resigned Chris Simms (ugh, we should have traded him on draft day 2007...could have gotten a 2nd rounder imo).

The Bucs are not going to go under tackle in next year's draft either. Julian Jenkins is a good UT/LDE reserve. Greg Petersen was a steal out of NC Central. He is 6'5 with room to fill out his frame (currently 290) and he has great quickness. Really is a prototype UT for the Bucs system and he impressed in mini camp. However, if a talent like Glenn Dorsey was available to the Bucs I couldn't knock them taking him.

Also, Dorien Bryant is probably a 3rd-4th round pick next season. If the Bucs want to go WR/RS in round 1 the only option is DeSean Jackson out of Berkeley. I doubt though he will be there when the Bucs pick especially if he runs a project. 4.28 at the combine.

I've heard rumors that Bryant runs a 4.19. No joke. He would be the steal of the draft if he's still around in the 3rd. He's the perfect replacement for Galloway.

We had no running game because defenses stacked 8-9 men in the box because Gradkowski couldn't throw the ball accurately anywhere. That's why I think we will draft a QB. And because Garcia won't last forever. I say we draft Brohm, Booty, Ainge, or Henne (BPA) and let them sit behind Garcia for a year. Garcia is good and should teach 'em a thing or two. We'd be set for the next 10-15 years.

I've heard good things about Jovan Hoye for the UT too. But Ellis is a beast. So is Dorsey. And so is Moore. I would rather start one of those guys than someone who is just starting to impress in TC. But that's just me.

And Walter, could you at least post something so I know that you at least read my post. Please and thanks.

Bryant probably runs closer to a 4.42. Those pro day times can be inaccurate. The fastest player in college football, DeSean Jackson out of Cal, runs a 4.26.

BucsFan,

I'm glad we agree on Tampa's projected record and the fact that they need to draft a QB in one of the first few rounds. I like Jeff Garcia as a temporary solution, but I'm not big on Bruce Gradkowski.

That'd be crazy if Bryant ran a 4.19. He'd get a lot of Troy Williamson-type hype. I've seen Bryant play a lot because I'm close to Big Ten country, and I just don't know how well he projects to the NFL. We'll just have to see I guess.
