I thought it would be fun to have playoff standings every week from now until Week 17, since now all of the teams are on the same par except Dallas and Philly tonight. Tomorrow I will add the NFC scenarios, but since the NFC hasnt finished yet, today I will just do the AFC. They will be more specific as the season grows older.

The Miami Dolphins- Too bad the best looking symbol in the NFL is gone after only one week, but the Dolphins are 7 games behind in the division with only 7 games left, and they lost to New England and there is no way they could have a better division and conference record, so say bye-bye to the Dolphins. And mathematically, they cant have every team vying for the wildcard spot that they need to lose so many games, cant lose that many so the Miami Dolphins are completely eliminated from the Division Championship and Wildcard Championship.

That's pretty good stuff. It's a shame that teams like the Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars reside in the AFC. They are much better than the Seahawks, Rams, and all of the 4-7 teams, with the exception of maybe Carolina.
It is a shame. I think the NFL might have to change their rules this season if in one conference an 11-5 team may miss it, and a 7-9 team in the NFC may make it.

With only one week left, next week there will be 5 teams eliminated, with 6 remaining in each conference, so next week I will show you who will be playing each other and my predictions in each and every playoff game.
The Denver Broncos (10-6) v.s The Indianapolis Colts (12-4)
I am usually very opposed to coaches sitting all of their starters in meaningless games at the end of the season. But in Tony Dungy's case I was completely for it. The Colts will play the Broncos in back to back weeks and Dungy, not wanting Mike Shannahan to know how to get the Colts in the playoffs, sat his entire starting team last week giving the Broncos a blowout victory over the Colts, and giving them a false sense of security. This one wont even be close.

The New York Jets (10-6) v.s The San Diego Chargers (12-4)
This is a really tough one. The Jets finished the season rather badly much like the Eagles, while the Chargers finished strong. But the Jets have a better offense, and the Chargers have a better defense. Special Teams is about even, so I look to coaching. The winningest active coach in the league, Marty Schottenheimer is pitted against one of the brightest young coaches I have ever seen in Herman Edwards. Both good, but I think Edwards will take more advantage of the Chargers weaknesses on both offense and defense.

The Carolina Panthers- Are a game back, therefore they are eliminated. The New Orleans Saints- Are tied for the wildcard and usually would win it because they beat St. Louis. But they got screwed. When there are more than two teams contending for a spot, apparently head to head is non applicable. So they go to conference record, where the Saints have a worse record, so the Saints get screwed out of the playoffs.

The Indianapolis Colts (13-4) v.s The New England Patriots (14-2)
This is with no doubt the game of the week. Walt sais that the AFC Championship will be the Super Bowl, I say this is the Super Bowl. This game can go either way, but I think this is the Colt's year.

The Denver Broncos- Smart move calling the Colts recievers "soft" Broncos. All they did was block you like they were the Defense and score 7 Touchdowns. The San Diego Chargers- You played like you were the underdog in Overtime.

The Philadelphia Eagles- Have Homefield Advantage. The Atlanta Falcons- Can host the NFC Championship with a win and an Eagles loss. The St. Louis Rams- Can host the NFC Championship with a win and an Eagles loss. The Minnesota Vikings- Cannot host the NFC Championship.
AFC Conference Semi-Finals
The Minnesota Vikings (9-8) v.s The Philadelphia Eagles (13-3)
On Monday Night Football, a few months back these teams met and Philadelphia won by 9 points, but I believe that the injury to Terrell Owens will be that much of a swing.

Same as Eagles and Vikes. Earlier in the season these two met and Falcons won pretty convincingly. They have had no injuries, but the Rams are riding a wave of momentum given to them by Seattle. I say the wildcard wins again.

The Seattle Seahawks- You have to be embarrassed. You were picked as high as to win the Super Bowl and you respond by being the underachievers of 2004. The Green Bay Packers- Im sorry but you can put your loss souly on the shoulders of Brett Favre.

The New England Patriots (15-2) v.s The Pittsburgh Steelers (16-1)
This has potential to be a gridiron classic. This is the most combined wins by 2 teams ever in one game (31) and both teams are forces to reckon with. After that exciting down to the wire win I expect the Steelers to be exhausted, while the Patriots are invigorated after their surprising blowout of the Colts. So I say Patriots advance to another Super Bowl.

The Atlanta Falcons (12-5) v.s The Philadelphia Eagles (14-3)
Walt's friends in Philly probably hate me, but I dont even think it will be close. Falcons win in a blowout, because of Philadelphia's inablity to stop the run.

The Minnesota Vikings- What an embarrassment. After that performance, I have to say Randy Moss may not even be one of the top 5 Wideouts in the league. The St. Louis Rams- With Mike Martz roaming the sidelines, youll never win the Trophy again. The New York Jets- I see Detroit in their future. The Indianapolis Colts- Walt was right, you cant win a Super Bowl with that Defense that you have.

Someone needs to tell the Eagles that losing the Super Bowl hurts alot more than losing the NFC Championship. Eagles fans had heart attacks losing 3 NFC Championships, they will die if they lose a Super Bowl. Especially since for them it will be, "Congratulations, you got over the hump, now you have to do it all over again." The Patriots will hold Terrell Owens, if he is indeed playing to 0 catches, while Freddie Mitchell and Todd Pinkston. HA! I think the Eagles might as well forfit. While, on the other side, The Eagles 2 young safeties will be burnt bad by Bill Belichicks wide out corps. This will be the first shut out Super Bowl.

The Atlanta Falcons- Your symbol doesnt even belong to be on the same page as the Steelers symbol. The Pittsburgh Steelers- The Steelers fallout has begun. It is looking like they will not have the services of Plaxico Buress, or Jerome Bettis next season.
