Walt what did you think of the riot in Detroit Friday Night?
I believe that Ben Wallace should get a 2 week suspension, Ron Artest a 2 game suspension, and the Pistons home games should not have a crowd for the next week. Steven Jackson should gat a 1 week suspension. And alchohol should be banned for the rest of the season in the Palace at Auburn Hills.I also believe that arrests should have been made.
What do you think about the suspensions Stern gave out? They were much harsher than what you thought. Here are my feelings on each:
Artest: Warranted. You can't go into the stands and attack the fans.
S. Jackson: Should have been suspended the whole year as well. He was throwing haymakers in the stands without being provoked (at least Artest had something thrown at him)
B.Wallace: Warranted.
J. O'Neal: What did he do to deserve a 25-game suspension? I didn't see anything.
Pistons: Stern should have came down harder on Detroit. He should have had them forfeit their next 10-20 home games. That will teach the fans not to throw beer and chairs. Or at least do something like take away a first-round pick or two. Do something in conjunction with the law.
As for the guy who threw the beer, I'm hearing that he's in deep trouble because he's had a history of DUIs and misdemeanors.
I think Artest's suspension was way too harsh. I would have given him a 1 month suspension after reviewing how he treated what he did. He does not seem apologetic at all. If he was apologetic I would have only given him a 2 week suspension.
Steven Jackson should be out for the year you are 100% correct. How did he escape? He did everything Artest did and more yet he gets away with a much lesser suspension than Artest. Unbelievable.
Ben Wallace deserved way more than that. After all he started it. I would have come down hard on Mr. Wallace possibly a suspension until March without pay.
Jermaine Oneal decked that fan that was on the court, so I would only give him a 5 game suspension, definetly not a 25 game.
I agree that Pistons home game tickets should not be sold for about 1 month, and I agree that the fan who started it should be arrested. I think that alcohol should be banned from the palace of auburn hills for the rest of the season.
I dont like Larry Brown, but he did a great job trying to end the fight and he should be given an award this year for his efforts to stop the riot.
David Stern didnt get it right at all and I think that he was obviously trying to blow smoke up the Pistons ass. If he would be fired from his position at the end of the season I would be happy. He is not a good leader, he tries to advertise himself and not the league.
