Playoffs as I see it

NFC

Eagles- Will lose at least at St. Louis, and I think that they will lose against Cinci. Without TO, the Eagles are nothing more than last year minus the good defense. Eagles finish weak.
Projected win total: 13-3

Falcons-  I think they can beat the hot Saints on the road. But, I also believe Seattle will over power them in the last game.
Projected win total: 12-4

Vikings- The Pack wont win in the Metro Dome 2 years in a row, Vikes will beat Green Bay, and win in Washington to win their division.
Projected win total: 10-6

Seahawks- They are lucky to have two home games to finish the season. Hosting Arizona and Atlanta should be relative easy wins for the Seahawks.
Projected win total: 9-7

Packers- As I said earlier, Packers wont be able to win in the H.H.H Metrodome which they never win in unless they have serious insentive so that is one loss, but Chicago isnt good enough to sweep the Packers, Packers win in  Chicago to make them....
Projected win total: 9-7

Panthers- Tampa will be breathing fire next week, handing Carolina their second consecutive loss. Then they will stomp the Saints.
Projected win total: 7-9

Cowboys- Despite our embarrassing 4th Quarter collapse against the Philadelphia Eagles, last time I checked we owned the Redskins, and the Giants are having the weakest second half to a season I have ever seen.
Projected win total: 7-9

Rams- Rams will beat the Owens-less Eagles at home, but the Jets will come in and ransack the Rams.
Projected win total: 7-9

Lions- I say the Lions have a strong finish, much like us. Defeating da Bears, and the Titans.
Projected win total: 7-9

Saints - The Saints have come so far to stumble in December again, but I believe that is what they will do. They have Atlanta and Carolina, the two best teams in their division. I say they will lose to both of them.
Projected win total: 6-10

Buccaneers- They will pull off the upset next week, but I think that they will stumble and fall in Week 17 against the Arizona Cardinals.
Projected win total: 6-10

Cardinals- Arizona will be crushed in Seattle, but I think they get over it with a win over Tampa to end the season.
Projected win total: 6-10

Giants- I said it before I will say it again, the Giants arent winning another game the rest of the season.
Projected win total: 5-11

Bears- Chicago is simply not as good as their record. Losses to Detroit and Green Bay will set them all the way back with the Giants.
Projected win total: 5-11

Redskins- We own Washington, and Minnesota will be fighting for their division, so I say the Skins finish no better than they did last year.
Projected win total: 5-11

Tiebreakers

The only real battle that needs tie breaking is the 6th wildcard position fight between the Cowboys, Rams, Lions, and Panthers. Cowboys beat Lions, and Panthers beat Rams knocking those two out of the picture. So the last fight is between the Cowboys and Panthers. Who will both have an intra conference record of 6-6. So we go to common games. Both teams played the Eagles, both lost, Dallas lost twice. Both played the Packers, both lost. Both played the Seahawks, Panthers lost, Cowboys won. Both played the Saints, Panthers won twice, Cowboys lost once so the standings on common opponents is....

Cowboys 1-4
Panthers 2-3

Panthers make the playoffs.

AFC

Steelers- Tough schedule, but I think that they will beat the Bills, and lose to the Ravens.
Projected win total: 14-2

Patriots- San Fransisco will be raped by the Patriots, but I think the Pats lose to the Jets.
Projected win total: 13-3

Colts- Colts also have two tough games, but I think that they will win both of them.
Projected win total: 13-3

Chargers- The Bolts play a mediocre KC team, but have to travel to Indianapolis. They'll lose one of those games.
Projected win total: 12-4

Jets- Despite the tough schedule, I believe the Jets will win both of their remaining games.
Projected win total: 12-4

Jaguars- The Jags host Houston, and travel to Oakland. You know what that means.
Projected win total: 10-6

Ravens- The Ravens have the Steelers, and Dolphins. I think they will beat both making them 10-6, however they still miss the playoffs.
Projected win total: 10-6

Broncos- Colts will beat them, but they travel to Tennessee which should be an easy win.
Projected win total: 9-7

Bills- Obviously they will beat San Fransisco, but I dont think they can beat Pittsburgh.
Projected win total: 9-7

Tiebreakers

The Patriots beat the Colts, giving the Pats a first round bye, meanwhile the Ravens and Jaguars are deadlocked, but both played Pittsburgh, Ravens won twice, Jags lost. Both played the Colts, Jaguars won once, lost once, Ravens lost. Both played the Chiefs, Jaguars won, Ravens lost. Both teams played the Bills, both won. So the standings are

Ravens 3-2
Jaguars 3-2
Still Deadlocked

My projections estimate that the Jaguars will have a better strength of victory margin than the Ravens however, sending the Jacksonville Jaguars to the playoffs.

Playoffs

Jackonville @ Indianapolis: 31-14 Colts
New York Jets @ San Diego: 26-24 Jets
Carolina @ Minnesota: 28-19 Panthers
Green Bay @ Seattle: 44-27 Packers

Indianapolis @ New England: 31-28 (2OT) Colts
New York Jets @ Pittsburgh: 42-13 Jets (UPSET SPECIAL)
Carolina @ Philadelphia: 35-31 Panthers
Green Bay @ Atlanta: 26-12 Falcons

New York Jets @ Indianapolis: 42-24 Colts
Carolina @ Atlanta: 37-34 Panthers

SUPER BOWL XXXIX

Indianapolis v.s Carolina: 26-18 Colts

Sorry, Walt. I just think this is the Colts year. And I know your argument they dont have a Defense, but I dont care I think that they will make it.

Okay, I disagree with you on a number of things:

1. Not only will the Colts' defense be the reason they lose in the playoffs, I don't think Peyton Manning can go outside and win in the cold. Remember those 4 INTs he threw at NE last year? Indy has no chance of going to Pitt or NE and winning. There's a reason why his Vols never beat the Gators until the year after he left. He just cant win big games.

2. Eagles lose at St. Louis? Not a chance. Mike Martz is a doofus and will throw the ball as often as possible, and Bulger will get killed in the pocket. The Rams are in meltdown mode, and the Eagles (heard it from Andy Reid) have something to prove to themselves. Eagles will win in a blowout.

3. From what I hear from Jim Mora Jr., he's gonna throw the game at New Orleans. Jim Haslett is his good buddy, and that's why he is gonna sit Vick, Crumpler, Jasper, White, Duckett, etc.

4. I won't argue with the GB-Min result cuz I don't really know. However, I dont see the Vikings winning at Washington. They havent won an outdoor game in December in ages. They are just not good enough to win outside.

5. Seattle doesnt have a relatively easy win against Arizona at home. No game is an easy win for them. Like the Rams, I don't think they win another game this season. They are just an awful team.

6. I think the Pats beat the Jets because Ty Law is back.

7. There is no way the Jets win at Pittsburgh. I've noticed a few things about Chad Pennington. Whenever he goes up against hard-hitting defenses, his throws become way inaccurate. Happened in the playoffs against the Raiders in 2002 and it happened in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago.

He can do it this year. Kansas City was pretty frigid last year, if I remember correctly when he beat the Chiefs. I think this is his year. It's not like they have no defense they do have Dwight Freeney who carries that Defense to being in the middle of the pack.

Manning will not do it this year and will never do it until he gets a good defense. The game at KC was cold, but remember how bad that defense was? That game wasn't a big game. I will be shocked if Manning ever beats the Patriots.

Keep in mind that the Colts will be off their fast turf during the playoffs, decreasing Dwight Freeney's impact on the game.

Prepare to be shocked then Walt, because he's doing it this year.

Well, his playoff road is basically set. He will have to beat the Broncos again, then go into Foxboro and then travel to Heinz Field, assuming Pittsburgh beats San Diego/Jets.

I know that he can beat both the Broncos and the Steelers, the Patriots will be the really tough game, but if he is inspired enough, I think Peyton can pull it off. The Colts have been by 2004 Super Bowl pick ever since the preseason and I have seen nothing to make me change my mind. The Colts almost won in Foxboro at the beginning of the season, I say they do it this time.

The difference is the weather at Foxboro will be a lot harsher this time and the Patriots have solved their dilemma at nose tackle. I dont think the game will ever be in doubt for New England.

They only won by 10 last year. As I say they are better off talent-wise than last year, but apparently they are not better off by anything else. It will be closer than last year, and last year was in doubt. They were only up by 7 and the Colts were attempting an onside-kick, if they recover it, they will probably send it to Overtime. You cant say the Colts dont have a chance.

You say you're not biased, but it seems that you hate the Colts. You will reply to this "I just think that you can't win a Super Bowl without Defense, that's all Im saying" but you dont give them the smallest amount of credit for anything they have done.

"I just think that you can't win a Super Bowl without Defense, that's all Im saying"

I would have said that. Seriously, I do not hate the Colts. I have lots of respect for Peyton Manning and I think what he and his offense are accomplishing this season is amazing. However, the fact remains that no poor defensive team has ever won the Super Bowl. And, you cannot dismiss that Manning has never beaten his arch-rival (Florida Gators, NE Pats).

Not exactly correct. They said that he couldnt ever beat Tennessee, hes won four straight against them, they said he couldnt beat Denver he kicks their ass in the playoffs. I think he will beat New England this year and make that series competitive.

I don't ever remember anyone saying they couldn't beat Denver.

Tennessee swept Indianapolis in 2002 because they were more physical. However, they were not Manning's arch-rival because they were never a threat to him in the playoffs, where it matters most. The Patriots are his modern-day Florida Gators.

Really? You dont remember everyone saying that Denver knows the way to beat Indy by keeping Peyton Manning out of the game. Almost everyone picked Denver, then they got blown out last year.

Same with Tennessee, even you said that the Titans will come back and kill the Colts this year, and the Colts have gone on to win 4 straight.

I thought the Titans would beat the Colts but they lost a lot of personnel to free agency and injury. They were terrible this year. Still though, Tennessee hung with Indy and had the lead at the half, if you remember.

If the game ends at halftime then the Bills won Super Bowl XXVIII.

Hung with Indy! Yeah, until halftime! Both games were blowouts.

The second game was a blowout.

I don't know if you remember the first game, but an Indy CB (I think it was Nick Harper) stole the ball from Derrick Mason in the endzone to nullify a touchdown late in the third quarter. If it wasnt for that play, the Titans might have won.

Comr on you're being ridiculous now. That game ended up being a blowout, no matter how much you dont like it the Titans got their ass handed to them.

Peyton Manning doesnt worry about the deficit he just does his job. He would have scored those touchdowns and still won the game even if Mason got the Touchdown. Colts scored 21 points in the fourth quarter. There is no way. NO WAY. That the Colts were going to lose.

I love how when you pick a game wrong you say "take away this play and I would have been right." It doesnt work that way, Walt.

It was a touchdown that Derrick Mason had in his hands. It was in his hands and Nick Harper stole it from him. That never happens. It's not like I said "if only he didn't fumble..." or "if only McNair didn't throw that pick." It was a rare play that changed the tempo of that game. The Titans had control of that game at that point and were ready to bury the Colts in an 0-2 hole. Manning did a remarkable job, however. I'm not denying him that.

Rare as it is, the Titans still lost. Say it! The Colts didnt lose the game. They won it and they have swept Tennessee two straight years.

I know the Colts won the game, but you have to acknowledge that the Titans definitely had a shot of winning that game.

They wouldnt have won even if that touchdown put them on top by 2 scores or whatever the hell you keep saying, they Colts victory was still more than how many points the Titans would have had with that Touchdown. It didnt matter. The Titans were never going to win that game. They had the lead, but it remained the same throughout the game the Colts were going to win.

I have the tape of that Colts-Titans game and I just watched it. I was going to continue arguing, but I just remembered why we got into this discussion. I didn't say the Titans would come back and kill the Colts this year. Well, I thought they would in the first game. I had the two splitting games because I thought if Indy lost to New England, they would be depressed and play poorly against Tennessee, who wanted revenge. That came to fruition in the first half when Indy scored just three points, but they were able to turn it on in the second half and win.

You didnt say they would split. If my memory serves me correctly you picked the Titans to sweep the Colts.

It worked the opposite way than what you thought it would. You thought they would be depressed, but they were angry, I knew that they would be.

In my simulation, I had Indianapolis beating Tennessee 42-17. I would never pick a team playing in their third consecutive road game to win. In fact, Indy -10 was a Double Money Pick if you remember.

They were angry, but they came out flat, scoring 3 points in the first half. But, they won the game, which proves that Tony Dungy is a great coach.

Given what happened this year, do you think Indy will beat New England next year?

Absolutely not. Everyone is saying "Well if they get a good defense they might beat New England" no. That doesnt work because last week, Indys defense was great and Peyton Manning and comp. froze. I say Peyton Manning will end his career winless against the New England Patriots.

I agree with that unless Tom Brady or Bill Belichick leave. I can't understand how or why people are picking the Steelers to beat the Patriots. I thought taking New England would be the obvious pick, but people up here are going berserk because they think Pittsburgh is going to the Super Bowl. In fact, in one of my classes, someone carved "Steelers 27, Eagles 3" into the desk I was sitting at.

No Way. You and I agree that neither will make it. The Eagles defense is the weakest left, and that means they will be the first eliminated.

So much for that. Pittsburgh fans up here are miserable. One of my friends had an away message saying "let me mourn in peace." The front page of the Daily Collegian had two Pittsburgh fans crying.
