Indiana v.s Purdue
Permalink

Did you see the game on ESPN, Walt. It was the single greatest college basketball game that I have ever seen.

It was 1-0 Hoosiers for a long time, but then it got on, skip ahead to the Fourth Quarter. With one minute left to play Purdue hit a miracle three pointer that could have been the difference in the game, it made it 55-52 Purdue. But then Indiana drove and rather quickly scored and got a foul. They made the free throw, 55 all. Purdue got the ball with like 30 seconds left. And missed their shots to send it to overtime.

In overtime, Indiana dominated, but allowed Purdue to hang with them. It was tied at 61, but then Indiana got a foul and was at the line. They made the first with 0.9 seconds left to play. Now, if Indiana missed the free throw, they win the clock runs out, and there is absolutely no way that Purdue can get a shot out. Indiana's coach even told him to miss it, but HE MADE IT. Giving Purdue a shot. Since the clock doesnt start until a player touches it in bounds, Purdue chuncked it the full length of the court, and Purdue made the shot and got a foul! So Purdue had one shot, clock read 0.0 if they make this shot they win, and what do they do, they miss it. Double Overtime coming up.

63-63 in Double Overtime. Both teams scored to make it 65-65, but then Indiana put together a run and was up 70-65. Purdue scored quick, 70-67. Foul Indiana, they get both shots. 72-67 Indiana. Purdue makes another miracle 3 pointer to make it 72-70 with about 1 minute in Double Overtime. Indiana scores two free throws 74-70. After that, I believe that Purdue got a shot and a foul to make it a 1 point, 74-73 game. They foul Indiana quick to try and get the ball back with it just a one possesion game with 3 seconds. The Hoosier made the first, missed the second. Neither team had a timeout, 75-73 Indiana in Double Overtime, Purdue passes it really fast. 1 second, 0.9, 0.8, 0.7, 0.6, 0.5, 0.4, 0.3, 0.2, 0.1, they take a three pointer that will win the game, it hits right on the back board, but then falls out of the basket. The clock reads 0.0. And Indiana wins it 75-73 in Double Overtime. It was very exciting.

Yeah, I watched the Indiana-Purdue game. Both teams are terrible but they hate each other, which made it a good game.

I can't believe the refs made 2 bad calls in one play. When has that happened before? They didn't call the foul initially and the ball was clearly still in his hands when the clock read zero. Those refs should be fired or fined.

I'm glad Indy won the game because Mike Davis' head would have exploded.

Yeah, even though both teams sucked this season, when Cowboys played the Redskins, both games were great this season. Every rivalry has that just like you mentioned with the Hoosiers and Boilermakers.

I wouldnt say Indiana is a terrible team, I am still picking them to make the NCAA Tournament this year.

I agree that he still had the ball when the clock read zero, but even though they didnt call it initially, that was a foul so I think it turned out right anyway.

I don't think Indiana is making the tournament. There are so many excellent teams in the ACC and Big East. Indiana is only 7-7, they have no quality wins, and they have a bad loss to Charlotte. The teams from the Big Ten that I think make it are: Illinois, Wisconsin, Mich St, Michigan and Iowa.

First of all, I think the loss to Charlotte will help them make the Tournament, not hurt their status on making the Tournament.

I dont know, I think they will be able to beat out one of the two Michigan teams, and make it to the tournament.

Indiana has actually won six of their last seven, beating Ohio State last night. They need to win at least two more Big Ten road games to qualify for the tournament. That means they will have to win at two of the following venues: Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin. Take out Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin... that leaves Minnesota, Ohio State and Michigan. It's plausible that they could win two of those but not very likely.

I think they will slaughter Minnesota, but I actually think they will win all of those games.

I don't know about slaughter. Minnesota has been playing well lately, winning at Ohio State and nearly knocking off the Hawkeyes at Iowa. It's really difficult to go on the road and win in the Big Ten, especially by a wide margin. That's why three road wins in the Big Ten makes you an automatic lock for the NCAA Tournament.

Well, Im pretty positive that they will win that one, and I think they are bound to win another.

Indiana lost to Minnesota 70-65 on Wednesday night. Winning Big Ten road games is nearly impossible if you're not one of the best teams in the country like Illinois. The Hoosiers will lose their next to road games to Iowa and Illinois, but have a chance to win at Ohio State.

I concede that they have no chance against those two, but I think they are going to win against Ohio St. as you said.

Ohio State shocked me by winning at Northwestern on Saturday. That was unfortunate for me because Northwestern +1 was one of my picks. However, the Buckeyes only beat PSU by 6 at home, so Indiana may win there. Up here, the basketball team is a joke. Either they are never mentioned, or the question is asked: "so, how much did they lose by this time?" It's a shame because the best player on the team, Aaron Johnson, is actually a pretty good player. It's a shame his talent has to go to waste.

Thats what I used to think of LaDanian Tomlinson, such a good player that I thought was doomed to lose the rest of his career, but now the Chargers are winning, maybe that will happen for Penn State.

Well, Penn State has one more year to turn it around before they lose their best player. Qualification for the NCAA Tournament next year will be tough, unless they somehow get a good recruiting class.
