Save your money. The Saints were able to finish strong last year because they had virtually no chance of making the playoffs. This statement is indefensible, but I think if the Saints were 9-6 and needed to win that game against Carolina to get into the playoffs, they would have lost. I still think the Panthers win the South.
Carolina gets Steve Smith back, who in my opinion is better than Muhsin Muhammad. Plus, the Panthers will be rebuilding their offensive line and they have three very capable running backs.
Well, I'm sure Carolina will add another receiver to their roster. Plus, they have Keary Colbert, who I think will be a tremendous wide out in the NFL in a few years.
Key word here is in a few years, what about now. How can you say that they are the early winners of the off season when the Minnesota Vikings have turned from the underachievers of the NFL into Super Bowl favorites.
There can be a few winners in the off-season. Like you said, Minnesota will be improved, as well as Carolina, Chicago, Detroit (just signed Pollard and Kennedy) and Cleveland.
Detroit, much like Indy needs alot more defense though. Chicago improved alot, but Carolina is a loser of the off season.
Why would Kurt Warner go to Arizona and have the same situation he had in New York? Eli Manning eventually beat him out as will Josh McCown going to a place like Cleveland would have been alot better. I think Cleveland could have improved alot if they got him and they missed it. Quarterback is their most pressing need.
How is Carolina a loser? They can replace Muhammad. Mike Wahle, Ken Lucas and whoever they draft in the first round will be more important to their team.
Detroit needs defense, but their stop unit was better than Indy's in 2004. They at least could stop their run.
I'm also at a loss as to why Warner is going to Arizona. I think at this stage in his career, McCown is a better quarterback. If Dennis Green didn't start playing musical quarterbacks, they could have won that terrible division.
Now Minnesota has Darren Sharper. If they keep this up I just may pick them to beat New England. But Mike Tice, Bill Belichick. Hmmm........ The legend v.s the ticket hawker I think Id still probably take New England. But maybe if Minnesota is lucky just before the Super Bowl Mike Tice sells his ticket to someone so he cant get in and they have a different coach. You never know.
I agree. New England has to be the favorite again because of Belichick and Brady, but Minnesota has definitely passed the Philadelphia Eagles as the best team in the NFC. It's hard to believe that they still have two first-round picks to spend.
Then today they signed a reliable back up in Brad Johnson, so if Culpepper is injured they wont go on a skid because Johnson will be on the sidelines waiting to back him up, right now I see Minnesota as a clear favorite in the NFC.
