Who is the worst team in D-1A Football period? If Ohio State was coached by Urban Meyer, would thy win the National Championship? Who is the better QB, Chad Henne or Erik Ainge? Who will win the Sun Belt? North Texas, UL Monroe, UL Lafyette or Idaho? Would the Hurricanes play for the NC this year? Name some strengths of UL Monroe and UL Lafyette.
I'd like to update something I said earlier. Temple just announced that they will be joining the MAC in 2007. They will be a 1-A independent until then.
The most overrated team in my mind is Texas. I'm not buying the Vince Young hype, and I think Mack Brown is a terrible coach. They will never beat Oklahoma. Another overrated team I'd like to put out there is Nebraska. I've seen some publications that place them in the top 25. They're nowhere near the top 25.
It's tough to say who is underrated because I don't know how high teams are rated in college football. Some possibilities include Iowa, Texas A&M, Bowling Green and Fresno State.
The worst team in D-1A could be Utah State. I had a tough choice between the Aggies, Idaho, Arkansas State, Army and East Carolina.
I think Jim Tressel is a decent coach, save the Clarett allogations (if they are true). The Buckeyes need a QB. Will Troy Smith or Justin Zwick step up? We'll see.
I was never a huge fan of Chad Henne. I like Erik Ainge better.
I have North Texas winning the Sun Belt.
The Hurricanes could play for the NC this year. I think it'll be USC-Michigan or Ohio State, whoever wins the Big Ten. Probably Michigan.
UL-Lafayette's offense is Jerry Babb. He's a dual threat, both running and passing, like Matt Jones was for Arkansas in 2004. The Cajuns also have a promising freshman RB in Deon Wallace, and their defense is led by LB Tyler Norman.
UL-Monroe has two really good defensive players: DE Brandon Guillory and LB Kevin Payne. They will have success pressuring opposing QBs, especially in the Sun Belt. Mason Denham looks like a promising RB.
Why the questions and interest about the Sun Belt?
Can Leinart win Heisman again? Does UCLA have a good defense? Name some strengths of the Cardinal. Is Cal still a good team despite the loss of Aaron Rodgers and JJ Arrington? Is J.J. Arrington relaterd to Lavar? Can ASU Make some noise in PAC-10 Play Could Arizona be a sleeper in the PAC-10, even the entire country? What are the strengths and weaknesses of Oregon, Oregon State, Washington and Wazoo?
I can't stand it when two teams have defenses that cannot stop the opposing offense. I'd rather watch great defenses over great offenses any day.
I think Leinart will win the Heisman again.
UCLA does not have a good defense at all.
It’s pretty tough to find any strength Stanford has. They return 10 starters on offense, but they are installing a new West Coast offense, which will take some time to learn. The Cardinal has one great defensive player returning: Jon Alston, who had 10 sacks in 2004.
Cal will not be as good as they were last year, but they have a running back, whom the Bears believe will be even better than J.J. Arrington--Marshawn Lynch. The Bears will have a pretty solid defense as well. Quarterback is an issue, but Jeff Tedford is the master at developing college quarterbacks. His current project seems to be redshirt freshman Nathan Longshore. Whether the QB is Longshore or Joe Ayoob, he’ll be able to throw to DeSean Jackson, who was a top-five high school receiver.
I don’t think they’re related. Not sure about that, but I doubt it.
Arizona State will probably finish second in the PAC-10, but they will not beat USC.
I think Arizona could be a sleeper in the PAC-10. Not the country just yet. Maybe next year.
Oregon: They had a great offense last year, and most of their skill players are returning. They have a great defensive line, which includes DT Haloti Ngata, who I have being drafted in the first round of my 2006 Mock Draft. As for weaknesses, their offensive line is very questionable. Their linebackers stink, and their special teams are horrific.
Oregon State: They have a great receiving corps, which includes WR Mike Haas and TE Joe Newton. Unlike their state rivals, they are strong at linebacker. They also look set at running back. As for weaknesses, who will play quarterback? The offensive and defensive lines stink. Cornerback is an issue. Lots of off-the-field problems. They could be the worst team in the PAC-10.
Washington: They will be able to run the ball, because they have a strong offensive line and impressive running backs, led by Louis Rankin. That’s it for strengths. The Huskies have no QB, their receivers are worthless. Cornerback is a problem, as is the kicking game. Another candidate for worst in the PAC-10, but I think Ty Willingham can lead them to a conference victory or two.
Washington State: Nine starters return on offense, including RB Jerome Harrison. This team will be able to score in 2005. Their front seven on defense also looks good. A major weakness the Cougars have is at defensive back. Washington State could contend for second place in the PAC-10, but they will probably finish fourth or fifth.
I did not see the PS3 or the XBOX 360 yet. I’m stuck playing MVP Baseball 2005 on my XBOX right now.
I'll try to give you a sleeper from each BCS conference:
ACC-- N.C. State: QB Jay Davis improved over the course of the 2004 season, and I'm hearing that he looks good in spring practices. The Wolfpack will be able to run the ball effectively with RB Bobby Washington. The defensive line also looks good. N.C. State has some problems on the O-Line and secondary, but they should be able to win at least 7 games this year.
Big East-- Rutgers: 17 starters return, including QB Ryan Hart, RB Brian Leonard and WR Shawn Tucker, all who are returning from injury. This team will be able to score, especially in the Big East. They don't have the best defense in the world, but they could win seven games this year.
Big Ten-- Penn State: If Penn State had a Chad Henne-caliber QB, they would be a top 10 team in the country. They have the best defense in the nation, and they can run the ball with Tony Hunt. Derrick Williams and Justin King will be a great WR duo for either Michael Robinson or Anthony Morrelli. PSU can go 8-3 or 9-2 this year.
Big XII-- Kansas: Their defense is solid, and I really like QB Adam Barmann, although he did not have a good spring game. The Jayhawks have 15 starters returning, including Charles Gordon who had seven INTs last year. This team could be playing in the Big XII Championship.
PAC 10-- I already gave you Washington State.
SEC-- Alabama: If they can solve their problems on the O-LIne, Alabama will be a force in the SEC this year. The Crimson Tide return 16 starters. They have a solid defense, and they will be able to score, as long as Brodie Croyle can stay healthy.
As for MVP Baseball 2005, I use the Tampa Bay Devil Rays because I wanted to build a team up from nothing. I basically just general manage--I only sim games and make trades and stuff. I've won 10 World Series in 12 years. Pretty unrealistic. Scott Kazmir is now 33 and has 240 wins.
I don't really have a favorite team. I used to like the Phillies, but that was before this new regime that does not care about winning. My favorite team was the 1993 Phillies that made it to the World Series.
What is the best Texas Longorn team of all-time? What is the best Texas A&M Aggie team of all-time? What team is better, Arizona State's Basketball or Arizona State's Football? What team is better, Pitt's Basketball or Pitt's Football?
Arizona State football. Pitt basketball. There's no doubt in my mind. The AZ St. basketball team didnt make it to the tournament, while Pitt football is decent, but cannot match the basketball team.
When will Vanderbilt ever beat Tennessee? Who is the Carolina Panthers of College Football? If Nebraska wins the Big XII and win the Rose Bowl, would they be one of the best teams in college football history?
Would BC be good in their first year in th ACC? Who would be this years Hokies (A team many people to finish in the bottom and then came out of nowhere and win their conference and then go to a BCS Bowl.) teams? What does ASU have to do if they want to win the Pacific-10? Would Wazoo get to a BCS Bowl? Does the BCS need to stay or to go? Can Rutgers get to a bowl? If Akron wants to win the Mid American Conference, what do they have to do?
Wold BYU win the MWC or will Utah or Wyoming capture it?
When will Vanderbilt beat Tennessee? I'm sure it'll happen some time. Maybe the year 2428?
The Carolina Panthers of the NCAA? Look no further than Penn State. They have one of the best defenses in the nation. They run the ball well, and they have athletic receivers like Muhammad and Smith.
Nebraska will not win the Big XII. Can you see Bill Callahan winning the Big XII? Yeah, I didn't think so.
Boston College should be in the middle of the pack. They will have extreme difficulty trying to beat Virginia Tech, Maryland, Miami and Florida State, but they'll beat up on Duke, Wake, North Carolina.
I could see Texas A&M winning the Big XII and shocking everyone. I really like Reggie McNeal. I think they would have beaten Oklahoma last year if he didn't get injured during the game. I mentioned Penn State before. That defense is incredible. If they can find some success at the QB position, they could win the Big Ten.
What does Arizona State have to do to win the PAC-10? Pray that Matt Leinart goes down with an injury. They have no hope otherwise.
Washington State is not getting to a BCS Bowl, but they'll be playing in some sort of major bowl.
I think the BCS formula could be used to determine a 16-team playoff. If you click on PLAYOFFS under NCAA Football on my Web site, you'll see a 16-team seeding. What I did was take the 11 conference winners, as well as five at-large bids, and seperate them in West and East brackets. It would work, and it would be an incredible tournament that millions of people would watch. Why don't they do this? They must be fools.
Rutgers has a great opportunity to get a bowl because the Big East sucks. I think they will get a bowl bid.
Akron needs to find a legitimate replacement for Charlie Frye. They also lost four starting offensive linemen this spring. They also need to shore up their pathetic defense. They will not win the MAC.
Who has the best uniforms in College Football? Who has the worst uniforms in College Football? Who has the best uniforms in the ACC? Who has the worst? Who has the best uniforms in the Big East? Who has the worst? Wo has the best uniforms in the Big 10? Who has the Worst? Who has the best uniforms in the SEC? Who has the Worst? Who has the best uniforms in the Big 12? Who has the Worst? Who has the best uniforms in the Pacific-10? Who has the worst? Who has the best uniforms in the Conference USA? Who has the worst? Who has the best uniforms in the MWC? Who has the worst? Who has the best uniforms in the MAC? Who has the worst? Who has the best uniforms in the SB Conference? Who has the worst? Who has the best uniforms in whe WAC? Who has the worst?
I suggest you do D-1AA scores. If you can do D-1A scores, sure you can do D-1AA scores.
Texas Tech cannot win the Big XII with that gimmicky offense. No chance.
I'm not all that into uniforms. I can tell you that Oregon has terrible uniforms. I don't really like any uniforms. I guess UCLA is pretty good. Someone else should post their opinions about uniforms.
Can you narrow your strength request to about 5 teams per day, because naming all the strengths of all the BCS teams in one day would take hours. Just let me know which teams you want.
If Bill Parcells coached the Saints, would he sweep the Falcons, Panthers, and Buccaneers? Name the coaches that should be fired. Would the Patriot defense be as good as they were last year? And who would be this years Carolina?
Miami-- QB Kyle Wright looks very impressive, and should be an instant upgrade over Brock Berlin. Miami is one of the best teams in the nation. They have few holes. However, cornerback could become an issue during the season.
VTech-- Virginia Tech is all about Marcus Vick, who was impressive in the spring game. The Hokies will have a tremendous pass rush next year. Their downfall, however, will be their secondary.
FSU-- They will have one of the top running games in the country with RBs Leon Washington and Lorenzo Booker. Their defensive line is also great, and they will be able to wreak havoc on opposing QBs. The Seminoles also have great linebackers. Their front seven is amazing. I don't like FSU's QB situation. Wyatt Sexton could be beaten out by a couple of red-shirt freshmen. The kicking game is also an issue. What a surprise.
GT-- You have to like Georgia Tech's passing game with Reggie Ball and WR Calvin Johnson. They will also be able to run the ball well. The Yellow Jackets' defense is questionable, especially the defensive line. They will not be able to stop the run. Offensive line is also an issue.
Wake-- Wake Forest will be able run the ball and stop the run. Unfortunately for Wake fans, this is not the 1950s. They will not be able to throw the ball, or stop the pass. They'll probably win five or six games this year.
The New Orleans Saints of the NCAA are the Texas Longhorns. They always underachieve and cannot beat Oklahoma. The Saints and the Longhorns have awful coaches.
I don't know what you mean by the Giants of the NCAA. Can you explain what you mean?
I actually wrote about the Texans last year. I wouldn't say they improved much this off-season.
He'd probably sweep the Buccaneers, but as long as he has Aaron Brooks at QB, he'll never win any big games. Brooks has a huge mental block against his cousin, Michael Vick.
Coaches that should be fired: Norv Turner, Jim Haslett, Mike Shanahan (stripped of GM duties), Mike Sherman, Mike Tice, Mike Holmgren, Mike Martz.
Yes, the Patriots will be fine. They just resigned Troy Brown.
This year's Carolina: Jacksonville. Watch out for Chicago.
