High on the Jags are we? They could be great, but I dont think Fred Taylor will remain healthy, and their redzone offense is terrible.
I see 10-6 for the Jags, another South title for the colts with 11-5(teams will begin to pick up on peyton manning) The texans keep getting better with 9-7, and the titans only going down hill with a 3-13 record
The Jaguars are going to win the division and I am going to tell you why.
They have a 2 headed monster at DT. Marcus Stroud and John Henderson. They also have Reggie Hayward. they help protect their LBs Akin Ayodele, Mike Peterson, Greg Favors, and the rookie Daryl Smith. They also have a great secondary. Led by Donovin Darius, the Jacksonville Jaguars have arguably the best defense in the National Football League.
Which brings me to their offense. Byron Leftwich is a good QB and with solid backup, David Garrard, their QB position is set. Fred Taylor and LaBrandon Toefield provides a 1-2 punch in the backfield. Much like the 2002 Colts, whenever Edgerrin James is injured, James Mungro backed him up and did good. The WR is good with Ernest Wilford, Reggie Williams and Jimmy Smith. The TE is occupied with Kyle Brady and George Wrightster. a solid OL ancored by Vince Manuwai. Final record, 13-3. First Round Bye.
I feel that the Jaguars are the next upstart team to advance far into the playoffs. They have the same makeup of the 2003 Panthers and the 2004 Steelers -- a tough defense, combined with a solid running game and a quarterback that can lead them to victory.
They dont have a very solid seacontary, I think Fred Taylor is strongly on the decline, and Jimmy Smith is getting old. There red zone offense is also very crappy. I have no problem with there D though, I just question there offense before they go 13-3
When Leftwich played, the Jaguars were able to score enough to win. To me, it's all about whether or not Leftwich can stay healthy. Jacksonville has a decent secondary. They have excellent safeties, and Rashean Mathis is a very good corner.
