The Jets still have a lot of work to do, as you'll be able to tell if you click on the offseason needs. They need to fix their QB situation, get a younger running back, acquire another receiver or tight end, fix most of their offensive line, trade John Abraham for more picks and get some help in the secondary.
It's going to take a lot of work to clear the mess that former G.M. Terry Bradway left.
Thank you goodness that Bradway was handed the pink slip out of the Big Apple. If you went to a Jets fan site eg. nyjetsfan.com, you'd see Bradway haters everywhere.
Back on topic. If Mangini cleans up the mess that is the New York Jets, a playoff is possible and he should be the coach of the year.
I just don't think that's happening any time soon. There are way too many holes on the Jets' roster. A playoff push in 2008 is something you could probably hope for.
Abe was traded to Atlanta and the Falcons lose the #15 pick. Denver gained that pick from Atlanta, but they traded #29 to New York. The Jets recieved the pick.
The Jets probably got the short straw in that deal. Atlanta received Abraham. The Broncos obtained a mid-first round pick. The Jets, on the other hand, didn't get much for Abraham.
