I sure hope he is going to be okay. His analysis in the Red Sox-Yankees games over the years are what turned me on to the Sox, and baseball in general. Those other guys at ESPN are okay, but Peter Gammons is what I would think of as the "John Madden" or "Al Michaels" of baseball. I always make it a priority to watch when he is on TV, the way I have made it a point to watch Michaels and Madden on ABC in the past and the way I will make it a point to watch the two of them on NBC this season. Just think about baseball without Peter, we will have a Baseball Tonight with John Kruk on every show! That cannot happen.

I like any analyst who loves his sport -- i.e. Dick Vitale, John Madden -- and I hope Peter Gammons can work for ESPN again because his analysis is great.

Gammons and Madden truly love their sports but Vitale is even in a whole other level. He lives, breathes, eats, and drinks college basketball.

It drives me nuts when some people say that they find him annoying. Sure, he yells at the top of his lungs, but he's so passionate about college hoops, that I don't mind it at all.

What do you think of the NCAA Tournament expanding to 128 teams? Personally, I think it's ridiculous? Why not invite every single team from college hoops into the tournament? It's just too much.

I agree that Peter Gammons is the best in baseball.

I can't believe that Myles Brand would even hear of expanding to 128 teams. But of course, I can't believe that he would fire Bobby Knight after all he did for Indiana but thats a different topic. 128 teams is way too many. I agree with your assesment Walt, if they are going to do that they might as well throw out the regular season and have a season-long tournament with every team in college hoops playing. Ridiculous.
