Why do you have Northwestern winning the Big Ten? I don't think they have a shot. I like Michigan to win that conference. Maybe Ohio State. Penn State takes it in 2007, however.
I think that Northwestern is a good upset pick. Ohio State is overrated, Penn State is too young, and Michigan has too tough of a schedule to win the Big Ten. I see the Wolverines going 9-3 (6-2 in conference), losing to Ohio State and Penn Sate, while I think Northwestern goes 11-1 (7-1 in conference). Northwestern's only predicted Big Ten loss will come to Michigan in Ann Arbor.
I couldn't disagree more. With a new head coach and a new quarterback, I don't think Northwestern can go into Penn State, Iowa or Wisconsin and win. I think they go 6-6 or 7-5, definitely losing to PSU, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio St. and Michigan.
I think Randy Walker's death will be a huge inspiration for the team this season.
Here is the predicted schedule......
@ Miami, OH: W New Hampshire: W Eastern Michigan: W @ Nevada: W @ Penn State: W @ Wisconsin: W Purdue: W Michigan State: W @ Michigan: L @ Iowa: W Ohio State: W Illinois: W
I think it is a strong possibility. Ohio State is not as good as people think they are, they lost their top wide receiver and defensive leader in the draft. Michigan is good but they seem to choke in big games and they cannot beat Ohio State, that gives them one Big Ten loss already. Penn State is too young and will probably struggle early on. Wisconsin is in for a rude awakening without Barry Alvarez as coach. Minnesota lost Laurence Maroney. I don't trust John L. Smith to lead Michigan State anywhere close to a Big Ten title. Purdue had a losing record last season with alot of returning seniors so now that they are young they will be even worse. Iowa is a worthy opponent but I think that they will lose two early Big Ten contests to Michigan and Ohio State, then later to Northwestern to knock them out of contention. Need I even mention Indiana and Illinois. That leaves Northwestern to sneak up and win the conference.
