WOW! Detroit took 2 straight from Chicago and 2-of-3 in the series. This was pivotal. Now I think Detroit will win the division and Chicago will have to settle for the wildcard and a first round matchup with the Red Sox.
Well, the White Sox's recently futility has allowed the Yankees to pull up 2½ games behind them. I won't be surprised if New York makes a few trades and catches them.
Seeing how the Tigers took two of three from the White Sox, I think Detroit should be the favorite to win the World Series. That was a huge series as far as maturing as a team.
They're definetly in the drivers' seat for the World Series now but I still can't see them beating either the Red Sox or the White Sox in the ALCS. They definetly could do it but its just hard for me to imagine them from going from the team that was 49-113 not too long ago to World Series champs just like that. It will be interesting.
Their turnaround is already remarkable. A World Series victory would be even more unbelievable. But with their pitching, I think they have a shot. The only guy on the staff that I'm worried about is Kenny Rogers, who will implode in the postseason.
