He's ridiculous. Do you remember how he was talking up Koren Robinson on Monday Night Football? The same Koren Robinson who was just arrested and charged with two counts of DWI.
I actually like the hostility that they have with each other. I guess Theismann didn't like something Kornheiser wrote about him when he was playing. And you're right, we needed someone to challenge Theismann's deranged opinions.
I like it too. It is kind of like a Don Meredith/Howard Cosell relationship only this time the writer is usually right and the player is usually wrong.
I think that Theismann better watch himself because despite how ignorantly loyal ESPN has been to him, Kornheiser has a bigger following and they will choose Tony K over him anyday- at least I would hope that they would.
Its incredible that ESPN has kept him. He's more worthless than George Costanza. Not only does noone that I know like him, but besides people on ESPN everyone makes fun of how ignorant he is. How is he still working there? I just dont get it.
Seinfeld is the best show of all time. But, another pretty funny Joe Theismann quote, well not really a quote but a conversation between him and Tony. They showed a list of all these quarterbacks coming back from serious injuries. Brees, Palmer, Pennington, Big Ben, and I think one other. Joe said that out of all those QB's he was most concerned about Pennington because he had a second surgery on his shoulder. Tony jumps in to make the point and say, hey, these players are getting paid tons of money, don't you think that team owners want to get them on the field asap, even if it means a second surgery. Theismann responds, Carson Palmer is getting paid 24 million dollars in bonuses this year. Tony goes ok, well..thats not what I asked. Theismann replies a little down because he can't hear himself speak, and says no, you don't rush them.
I love Seinfeld. Do you guys have the DVDs? I have the first three seasons.
Here's a funny exchange between Kornheiser and Theismann I found on a Web site:
Theismann: I think you need a guy who's short, vertically challenged, maybe five-foot-nine, five-foot-ten with a lot of 'quicks' that can double as a kick returner. Those are the guys that can transition into professional football. To come in and just try and play the wide receiver position --
Kornheiser (incredulous): He has to be short?
Theismann: Well --
Kornheiser: This is a prerequisite, to be short?
Theismann: I think you need to be short and quick. I think that gives you an opportunity --
Kornheiser: What if you were big and quick?
Theismann: You don't have the 'quicks' when you're that tall.
Kornheiser: Correct me if I'm wrong because you watch a lot more college football than I did, but wasn't there a quarterback recently from Arkansas who was the quarterback who then became a wide receiver in the NFL?
Tirico: Matt Jones.
Kornheiser: Matt Jones, right? And he's big. Big and quick.
Theismann: But not at the kick returning position.
Kornheiser: (Makes barely audible noise connoting "Is this guy serious?")
Theismann: No.
Tirico (wisely changing the subject): It's 48 to 17. . . .
No I don't have any DVD's but sadly I do watch the show about three times a day. What's your favorite eposide? Mine would be when Roger's Chicken opens up and Kramers entire apartment is red. Hahaha. I think all of them are funny, but the one I hate is when they are lost in the mall parking lot.
I only own the first Seinfeld DVD, but I watch it every chance I get on TV as well.
I love The Little Kicks and the one where George has to study up on Risk Management and ends up doing his presentation on the comedy routine that Jerry was doing for Bania. The Soup Nazi and The Junior Mint are both classics as well. That one that you're talking about when Jerry and Kramer trade apartments is hilarious too.
I loved that. It was one of Kramer's best episodes, next to the Junior Mint and the one where he acts like a detective so he can steal the statue back for George.
I like the newer ones. I loved the one when Kramer gets a intern from UNY, Darren. I also love the one where Kramer gets the screen door, and has like a little country type set-up in the hallway and the kids ruin it all.
I'm surprised that you don't see Kramer that often. He is an amazing actor in my opinion. He is my favorite character, followed by Jerry, and George. I don't really like Elaine, I don't think she is all that funny.
Someone should make a spin-off show called "Kramer" and really promote it. I would definitely tune into that, and I think any other Seinfeld fan would as well.
I loved the opening skit of one episode where Jerry leaves his apartment while Kramer is still there and then Kramer does several things, throwing a party among them, while Jerry is gone and when Jerry returns to a spotless apartment he says "Oh, I dont believe this". He then proceeds to put a coaster under the sleeping Kramer's drink. Hilarious.
Another good one was when Jerry's car was stolen by the mechanic (Brad Garrett, who would go on to play Robert in Everybody Loves Raymond, another good show) and Kramer and Newman had to chase him down since they were going to Michigan anyway to recycle things for more money. That was one of Newman's best episodes. Another good Newman episode is when George gives a dirty picture of himself to the girl who works at the 1-hour photo and ends up receiving a dirty picture back, but not one of who he expected.
Speaking of dirty pictures, how about the one where Kramer takes a Christmas picture of Elaine and her nipple is showing. I could go on and on with these episodes. Seinfeld is the greatest show of my lifetime.
I just watched the Van Buren gang episode two nights ago. How funny was it when George said, "Architect? There's nothing higher than architect!" Hilarious.
