UNLESS EDWARDS HAS IDEAS OF PLAYING QB GREEN ALOT IN THIS GAME I CANT LOOK TOWARD KC AS THEIR 2nd + 3rd STRING QB"s WERE INJURED LAST WEEK AND THEY TRADED FOR SMOKER .  IM GUESSING HE WILL PLAY SOME THIS WEEK , QB ROTATION IS IN NYG FAVOR , AND UNLESS EDWARDS STRAYS FROM HIS PLAN OF RUNNING MORE , WHICH IS WHAT THIS GAME PLAYS INTO I DONT SEE THEM HAVING A CHANCE IN THIS GAME .  IM PLAYING THE GIANTS HERE TO WIN AND COVER.

WILL BE ADDING SOME MORE PLAYS AS I MAKE THEM.

THURSDAY'S GAMES 8/17/06

K.C. Chiefs - QB Rotation: Trent Green, Casey Printers, Jeff Smoker, Damon Huard, rookie Brodie Croyle.

KC is running out of quarterbacks. Just hours after Herm Edwards said that Damon Huard had solidified himself as Kansas City’s No. 2 quarterback — in part because rookie Brodie Croyle is hurt — Huard was out because of a sprained foot. So they added Jeff Smoker late last week.

QB Brodie Croyle has a sore shoulder, QB Damon Huard is out (foot), and running back depth is thin with Michael Bennett (hamstring), Ronnie Cruz (head) and Priest Holmes (neck) hurting.

Without rookie end Tamba Hali, the team’s first-round draft pick, the Chiefs struggled against the run in the preseason opener. They were hurt badly by the bootleg, too.

Defensive changes: The Chiefs have revamped their defense, loading up with Pro Bowl talent in the secondary and at linebacker. The interior line has been one of the biggest question marks heading into the fall. Veteran defensive tackle John Browning will be out six weeks because of a recurring back problem. That means he may not be available for the season opener, and it led the Chiefs to acquire journeyman tackle Shane Burton. Ryan Sims was with the second string, while newcomers Ron Edwards and James Reed ran with the No. 1 defense.

Edwards said the offense will run the ball more in 2006 as he feels it will ultimately help the Chiefs' defense.

NY Giants - QB Rotation: Eli Manning, Tim Hasselbeck, Josh Harris, Jared Lorenzen, Rob Johnson.

Wideouts thin. Veteran receivers Amani Toomer (sore hamstring) and David Tyree (sprained ankle) did not practice on Sunday. Rookie WR Sinorice Moss (leg injury) has missed the last two weeks of practice.

TE Jeremy Shockey participated in his first full practice since suffering a concussion two weeks ago. LB LaVar Arrington (knee) returned as well.

Running backs thin. RB Tiki Barber is healthy, but his two backups aren't. RB Derrick Ward is out several weeks after breaking the fifth metatarsal bone in his foot. RB Brandon Jacobs, the Giants' goal-line and short-yardage back, was held out because of an irregular heartbeat.

Angry coach: NY Giants coach Tom Coughlin called his defense "soft" after the preseason opener, and refused to take it back a day later after watching film.

Defense thin: DE Michael Strahan (back) and S Gibril Wilson (hip) have battled minor injuries. LB Carlos Emmons (burner) has been out, while S Will Demps and LB Brandon Short have been going easy because of their recent knee surgeries. With Short and Emmons out, rookie LB Gerris Wilkinson worked with the first-team defense on the weak side.

Chiefs’ preseason QB troubles

The Kansas City Chiefs may have to shuffle their depth chart before this Thursday’s preseason game against the New York Giants.

Kansas City rookie quarterback Brodie Croyle has been suffering with a shoulder injury and is not expected to play in this week’s game, leaving the majority of snaps to banged-up backup Damon Huard. Huard did not play in the Chiefs first warmup game because of a sore foot but is expected to play on Thursday.

Oddsmakers have set Kansas City as a 3-point road underdog, the total is set at 37.

Giants` stars will return

After sitting his veteran stars for last week’s preseason opener, New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin will start running back Tiki Barber, defensive end Michael Strahan and tight end Jeremy Shockey in Thursday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Coughlin also told the New York Post he plans on playing starting quarterback Eli Manning well into the second quarter.

The Giants are 3-point favorites for Thursday’s game in the Meadowlands.

MORE PLAYS

455 CINC +3.5  ---  PALMER WONT PLAY UNTIL GM 3 AT THE EARLIEST BUT WRIGHT AND JOHNSON PLAYED GOOD ENOUGH TO GET THE JOB DONE LAST WEEK .  I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE DEFENSIVE PLAY LAST WEEK AGAINST WASH . BUFF's QB's DID NOT PLAY WELL LAST WEEK AND WE MAY SEE NALL THIS WEEK WHO WAS INJURED AND DIDNT PRACTICE .

457 DET  +2.5  ---  CLEV WITH OL PROBLEMS FROM THE PREVIOUS WEEK HAD TROUBLE MOVING THE BALL LAST WEEK AND WE MIGHT SEE THE SAME AGAIN .

459  SD  +3 +105 --- SD DEF PLAYED WELL LAST WEEK AND OFF WAS PRETTY GOOD ALSO.  CHIS QB's GROSSMAN AND ORTON DID NOT PLAY WELL DUT NEWLY ACQUIRED GRIESE PLAYED VERY WELL AND MIGHT HAVE CAUSED A QB CONTROVERSY AS THE FANS WANT HIM TO START.

467 ATL +2.5 --- VICK , SCHAUB AND RANDALL PLAYED WELL AND SHOCKLEY PLAYED OK , GB WAS BAD , OL THIN , PUTTING UP ONLY 3 POINTS.  REPORTS SAY FAVRE SAT IN THE LOCKER ROOM AND NO ONE TALKED TO HIM, COULD BE BIG TROUBLE FOR THIS TEAM THIS YEAR.

MY PLAYS ARE ON TEAMS THAT PLAYED WELL AND AGAINST TEAMS THAT DIDNT PLAY WELL BECAUSE OF INJURIES OR OTHER FACTORS.

GOOD LUCK    TOMMY B

Nice picks, good luck.

A bit on the Giants' QB rotation: I'm hearing that Rob Johnson and Jared Lorenzen will get a lot of time. I'll take Printers over either of them; Printers can at least scramble.

I like the Chiefs a lot, actually.

Why did Wade Phillips start Johnson in the playoffs instead of Doug Flutie in 1999? Flutie did a good job with that team.

Thanks for the info.

You really have to feel sorry for the city of Cleveland.

Sheesh! I thought the Browns were going to make strides this year. Now they should consider themselves lucky to claim a single win in the division.

I agree. I thought they would go 8-8, and now Cleveland will be the doormats of the AFC North again.

Dido. I saw them going 8-8 this year as well. Now it is going to be 5-11 or 6-10. I dont know if they are ever going to turn the corner.
