I cant believe the Cardinals won the championship. They were horribly mediocre this season until the playoffs when they turned it all around. This proves once again that anything can happen in the baseball playoffs.
Any idea who will win next year? The Phillies have a shot, as I'm hearing they're going to make a run at both Adrian Beltre and Alfonso Soriano. Imagine a lineup of Rollins/Utley/Beltre/Howard/Soriano. That's deadly.
Who says A-Rod's going to be with the Yankees next year? I think Lou Pineilla gets his man and Rodriguez goes to Chicago.
Even if A-Rod does stay with the Yankees, baseball is a totally different sport from football. The Colts CANNOT win without Peyton Manning. The quarterback position is the most important spot. Meanwhile, A-Rod can choke and the Yankees can make up with it with the rest of their lineup. Two different things.
I think the clubhouse is a very fragile place in baseball. You cannot have a guy like A-Rod making the most money. It's ridiculous he's making more than Derek Jeter, who is clearly the leader of the team.
Of course if A-Rod isn't there anymore...
Where will the Yankees get pitching? They have none.
They'll get some from the Cubs in the A-Rod trade and you know that Steinbrenner's going to open his pocket book up this off-season like he always does. If he doesn't then I'll probably have a different pick once April gets here but as of now I think the Yankees will win it next year.
Well, I'll have to see what they do this offseason. I wasn't sold with last year's moves. But what do you think about the Phillies if they get Soriano and Beltre/Aramis Ramirez?
If the Phillies were to make those moves then they would have to be the favorites in the NL East but I think that they're kind of a soft team. They were supposed to win it in 2004 too when the less-talented Braves won their 13th straight.
The Phillies were soft in the past, but I think they got rid of some of their lethargic players like Bobby Abreu and Mike Leberthal. They're a younger team now, and they should play better in the clutch now.
