The Panthers chump play calling! Run, run, run for 2 or 3 yard gains, then Delhomme will throw a ball 50 feet in the air and pray to god his 5'9 receiver can jump over everybody and make an amazing catch. That's the Panthers offense in a nut shell. Also, in the 4th with around 3 minutes left, Redskins are up, it's 3-10 and we run a draw play the goes for like 3 or 4 yards, smooth, then fail to convert the 4th down. Then on that last play, what was Delhomme doing, there wasn't a Panther in the area. Delhomme has been a bust this year, in my opinion.
Also, Delhomme needs to drop back more in the pocket. I watched every play, and it looks like he always does a 3 foot drop, and bam pressure is right in his face. I think if he dropped back more, he will have more time to throw the ball, and make accurate passes instead of throwing prayers in the sky.
I completely agree, and I think I mentioned it in my Top 10 last week.
Carolina's play-calling is horrific.
I'm not sure what John Fox's obsession with running the ball is. His team just can't do it unless it's playing someone like the Rams, Colts, etc. I understand running it once in a while, but not every single first and second down.
I'd like to see Delhomme throw short routes to Steve Smith, and allowing one of the top receivers in the league to create on his own. I'd also like to see the Panthers draft a real tight end in the draft (Greg Olsen from Miami?), just to give Delhomme another intermediate target.
