I was looking over your season simulation again. How on Earth could you have Dallas getting swept by Philly. You said yourself, when a good Offense meets a Good Defense the Good Defense wins. I think that Fricko convinced you that Philly can beat Dallas. How? Vinny can move through the once great Philadelphia defense with ease. So can Henson or Romo. While Roy Williams will stuff Owens. Owens told Ray Lewis, he loved him. HA! He can try that with Roy and Roy will laugh in his face. Then Roy will give him a broken neck . While Roy jams Owens, and Darren covers Pinkston. McNabb will either get sacked for holding the ball too long, or throw into a tight spot, and get Intercepted. Dat, Ellis, Wiley, Newman, Roy, and Darren will be in McNabb and Owen's nightmares. Philly might pull out a victory in Philadelphia, but they wont in Dallas. I think we will anihlate them in that game. Here is the Sweep or Split picks for me.

I don't think the Colts will sweep the Titans because their first game against them (Week 2 at Tennessee) sets up very poorly in Indy's favor. Here's why:
If the Patriots beat the Colts in week 1, Indy will be so down because that game is the most important game of the season for them. Remember how the Eagles lost to the Bucs last year in Week 1, and then they got blown out by the Patriots and started 1-3? I think the same will happen to the Colts if they lose to New England.
If the Colts beat the Patriots in week 1, Indy will be on such a high that they won, that they might not prepare well for their clash against the Titans, who are infuriated after being swept by the Colts in 2003.
Either way, I think Tennessee gets revenge in week 2. If I'm right, the Colts will start out 0-2 and will be in a huge hole, in a very tough division. That's why I have them finishing with a poor record.
I think that Indy will sweep Tennessee because Indy swept them last year. And in my oppinion Indy has improved and Tennessee has fallen. But Jeff Fisher is a spectacular coach and may change that.
In what way did Indy improve? They lost their RT (Adam Meadows), their best LB (Marcus Washington) and their top corners (David Macklin and Walt Harris). They didn't make any significant offseason additions. I don't think they'll make the playoffs after an almost definite 0-2 start. Do you think they'll beat New England?
Hell no I dont even think it will be close. I picked 34-7. But I think they will lose that game and then win 9 straight games. I think they will get their ass kicked that game and then go insane against Tennessee and win again.
Well, I think they lose a close one to New England. Still depressed, I think they get destroyed by vengeful Tennessee. After that, they catch a break with Green Bay at home. Everyone knows that Brett Favre can't play in domes, so that blow out could get them going. Unfortunately, they go into Jacksonville where the Jags always play them tough. They'll shut down Indy's run and defeat them like they did last year. They play Oakland at home and that's an easy win. Bye week. 2-3.
They get revenge against Jacksonville at home, but then they go into KC where the Chiefs are looking for revenge of their own. They get it. 3-4. They beat Minnesota at home, Houston at home (close game), @ Chicago (another close one). 6-4.
After that, I think they get blown out at Detroit because they have the Titans the following week. They get revenge against Tennessee. 7-5. Coming off that high, they lose to the Texans at Reliant Stadium, where it is very difficult to win. I have the Ravens beating them, but I'm probably going to change that after I adjust everything. Colts beat the Ravens. 8-6.
They blow out San Diego, but then they go to Denver. It's always difficult for a dome team to win in cold climates, especially Denver where the air is thin. The Broncos also want revenge for that playoff loss. I think they get it.
I think they get blown out in New England, 0-1. They go to Tennessee angry as hell, and beat the Titans. 1-1. They beat Green Bay with ease at home. 2-1, they go into Jacksonville prepared this time (you yourself said Indy didnt try their hardest last year against Jacksonville) and edge one out against the Jaguars. 3-1, win an easy one at home against Oakland 4-1 at Bye. Blow out the Jaguars at home, 5-1. Win again in KC, 6-1. Defeat the Vikings by a big score, and barely beat Houston at home. 8-1. Beat Chicago 9-1. Lose big against Detroit, 9-2. Run the Titans off the field at home 10-2, and then get shut out in Houston 10-3. Win against Baltimore and San Diego at home, and edge it out against Denver to finish 13-3.
I think that's a very optimistic look at their schedule. Given what teams have done in the past, it'll be nearly impossible for them to beat Tennessee if they get beaten by New England. They'll be so deflated, it'll be hard for them to get angry. They just won't be able to do it. By the way, the Titans may lose at Miami because they've had that game circled on their calanders since they got swept in 2003. Indy doesn't have the Titans game circled. It doesn't mean as much to them as it does to Tennessee. They just won't be able to get up for that week 2 matchup and I think they'll lose by over 20.
Jacksonville caught them off guard last year, but if you look at their four matchups since 2002, you'll see that the Jaguars have always played them close. That's because Jacksonville can take Edgerrin James out of the game, and they defend Peyton Mannning pretty well.
I dont think it will affect them that way, they have the New England game circled after losing that I say they do to Tennessee the same thing New England did to them. Im not a Colts fan, you know that. That is just the way I say it happens. Tennessee is my 3rd favorite team behind Dallas, and Carolina so I would not root against them.
Yeah we have several great games in week 1. I wish the NFL scheduled the Eagles game, at 12 and the Cowboys game stayed at 3, both will be good games while Washington will destroy Tampa.
I don't see Washington destroying Tampa. I think that will be a defensive struggle. Before I make my pick on that game, I want to check out Jon Gruden's history of opening day games.
I dont think that matters as much as preseason records. If he was 83-0 I still say Tampa gets blown out. But you would have to agree that Vikings/Cowboys and Eagles/Giants will both be more interseting than Bucs/Redskins.
Not Eagles/Giants. That will be a blowout. Out of all the games in week 1, that's the one I don't want to see. Sack. Sack. Fumble. Fumble. Sack. INT. Sack. Fumble. Sack. Fumble. Fumble. INT. Sack. Kurt Warner is starting.
I don't see a defense like Tampa Bay's getting blown out. The way you beat that defense is with a mammoth offensive line and a powerful running back up the middle. The Skins have neither, although Portis is a stud; he doesn't have the power of Deuce McAllister or Stephen Davis.
Clinton Portis is the best overall Runninback in the league. I totally disaggree. Tampa's Defense will not be in the top 50% this year. But that O line is going to prevent Washington from going very far beyond a .500 record.
I'd have to argue that LaDainian Tomlinson is the best running back in the NFL, hands down. He has power, speed, quickness and can break tackles. He can also catch the ball. He set a record for receptions for a running back with 100 last year! That's incredible. Just think about what he could accomplish if he had at least an average offensive line and defense that could hold a lead so he could chew out the clock at the end of games. He also has never missed an NFL game; Portis misses some every year. If you switched the new LT with Jamal Lewis, I think he would have gained well over 2,200 rushing yards in 2003.
Tomlinson is mind-boggling. But I have to say I cant measure him. If he was on an average or even below average team he could be measured by me. But as long as he is on the Chargers I cant. They dont even try to win! It doesnt make any sense to me. They didnt even try to get a wideout, or improve their Defense, or improve their O Line. Its like they think "Hey lets see who can be worse, us or Frisco." Its really weird to me, that they stood still in the Off-Season. Stood Still! After being the worst team in the league they stood still in the Offseason!
I agree with that. The Chargers are a terrible organization, and since the unfortunate death of their old general manager John Butler, all they've made have been questionable moves. They should have improved their offensive line and they should have added players to their woeful defense. That's all they need. Imagine a solid defense, with Tomlinson and a great offensive line on the other side. That's a playoff team.
Yeah! Possibly a Superbowl team. But still think about it. It was totally stupid. They stood still in the offseason! All of the worst teams improved. Arizona, NY Giants, Raiders, Lions, Redskins, Falcons, Cleveland (possibly) all of them changed at least to try and get better. San Diego was so silent in the off season you would think that they won the Superbowl last year. Absolutely insane.
The same reason why they were the last team to sign their first round pick, Phillip Rivers. Eli Manning and his family were very smart to decide not to go there. Blame the owner and GM.
Yeah! But STILL I dont see how you could be THE worst team in Football and not even try to improve it makes no sense. A 3 year old would know that changes need to be made.
Do you remember when they marched into Oakland in 2002 and beat the Raiders in overtime? They were 6-1 and seemed unstoppable. Since then, they are 6-21. How does that happen?
Bad coaching is all I can point to. Because your'e right, how does that happen? It has to be bad coaching. Marty Schottenheimer didnt keep his troops focused. They were the Vikings of the that season. That is why I aggree that Minnesota wont be very good this season San Diego could'nt stay focused after a disappointing finish, I say Minnesota cant either.
